Description
Hi!
My name is Thamsen. I’m a recent graduate of McGill University, where I studied English Literature, and I’m currently in a gap year before starting law school next fall. I’m using this time to reconnect with the outdoors, meet new people, and return to a lifestyle I’ve always loved.
I grew up on a small farm with horses (three of them), chickens, sheep, a cat and a dog. I’m very comfortable around animals and well-acquainted with the daily routines that come with farm life. In addition to caring for my family’s animals, I also helped a family friend who bred Morgan horses, where I assisted with feeding, mucking out stalls, grooming, and turning out to pasture. I even had the unforgettable experience of helping with a foaling once!
Though it’s been a few years since I lived on a farm, I truly miss the rhythm and sense of purpose that comes with working with animals and the land. After spending the past year in a corporate office, I’m looking forward to getting my hands dirty again — working outdoors, learning new skills, and hopefully making a meaningful contribution wherever I’m hosted.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading (ideally with a cup of tea), hiking with friends, and playing with my two cats. I’m easygoing, reliable, and genuinely excited to immerse myself once again in rural life, share stories, and lend a hand in any way I can!

More details about your skills
I lived on a farm until I was 13 years old. My responsibilities were to fetch eggs in the morning, feed chickens, and clean out the coop when needed. For the horses (on my farm and the Morgan breeding farm), I turned them in and out from the fields to the barn, fed them, brushed them, and mucked their stalls. Also cleaned the water troughs and kept the barns in order. I love a good workout, so lifting hay bales or other equipment should be no issue for me to do safely.
I also have experience in riding horses (my own and horses my family leased). Even now, as I live in the city, I frequently go with my younger sister to horse ranches so we can ride together.
My sister and I live in our apartment, so I know the daily upkeep involved in maintaining a home. I like to cook (I am very ready to introduce anyone to the Quebec classic meal called the Poutine) and love to bake (cookies and cakes mostly). I also love to clean and organize spaces (if you need me to reorganize a closet or some shelves, I will be quite a happy camper).
I have experience in painting (rooms and staining decks) and a bit in carpentry, if those skills are ever needed. I also like to garden and have some experience in planting and maintaining vegetation.

What else ...
I LOVE learning about history, so if anyone is willing to share their stories and discuss Irish history, that would be absolutely fantastic. If you know of any cool historical spots in Ireland, please feel free to share where they are if you are keen to. :)
