  • Description

Hello! My name is TJ and I'm from the south of Ireland. I am 23 and have just recently graduated from Dublin College University (DCU), obtaining my diploma in a Marketing, Innovation and Technology. During my studies I had the opportunity of studying in Angers for two semesters, unfortunately back then I had no French. Now I am hoping to return to France to finally learn first hand.

I've had lots of experience working different jobs in the past (Construction, Bars, Supermarkets, Events Companies) so I think that I have lots to offer... but of course also a lot to learn. I enjoy the outdoors and am a very active person, playing a variety of sports for numerous years. I have become very interested in self sufficiency and farming, so I would really like to learn all about it first hand.

After graduating and seeing all my friends get professional office jobs it has pushed me even more to travel the world and learn as much as I can while I am young.

More details about my language interests
Languages have interested me ever since I studied in Angers. Since then I have studied French at home but now need to put it into everyday practise, so I will be slow at first.. but I am very eager and passionate to learn. I also am interested in learning Spanish, however my current level is very beginner. I have qualifications to teach English as a foreign language, both to children and adults. In addition I have a little bit/a few phrases of Gaeilge (Irish) that some people might find interesting.

  • More details about your skills

My studies thought my a lot about business, marketing and accounts. However, it also covered lots of science modules such as biotechnology and computer science. I feel my studies would suit business or venue owners who want to try an improve their communications/business practises. But I am also knowledgeable in inventory, HR and other aspects of business,

Adding onto my degree, I have also done a handful of internationally recognised courses to teach English as a foreign language. So if hosts would like to learn English I can provide help.

I have also had plenty of experiences handling money and operating a counter/bar. This includes clean up overall management duties and everything else required for bar and event work.

I'm also accustomed to physical work. I was raised as a very active child and young adult, cutting and selling Christmas trees with my grandfather for years before I went to college. I also held multiple jobs in construction (Ground Works and Bricklaying) as an onsite labourer. Therefor, I would consider myself quite handy when it comes to tools and repairs etc. Being from the country side I also have a basic understanding of farms/stables etc but again, would be very interested in learning more.

In addition I worked throughout the Covid lockdowns as a self stacker, which was very early starts (as early as 4am) so I am very much a morning person because of it.

  • What else ...

I really enjoy reading, my favourite book being The Count of Monte Cristo. One of my goals is to be able to reread it in its original language (French). I also enjoy chess but there is lots of room for improvement there.

The gym and Brazilian Jujitsu are my main hobbies as they act as a form of relaxation to me. I also tend to watch/listen to music and YouTube very much.
