Traveling all over Europe for six months after living/working in New Zealand, keen to get out in nature and experience different cultures!
My next destination:
Czech Republic - from Jun 2025 until Jul 2025 View allDescription
Hi! I am Susannah, 26. I was born in Germany, in a family farm on the Baltic Coast, before my family moved to New Zealand and lived all over the country. I studied Law, Sociology, and Philosophy at the University of Auckland (NZ) and subsequently worked long hours to start my career as a lawyer. I am now taking a long holiday in Europe to spend time with extended family and travel.
I enjoy being in nature, particularly long walks through mountains and fields. I have a keen interest in music, dance, and learning more about the cultural history of Europe's many peoples. You will never find me without a book (or e-book, now) and I'm always keen to discuss philosophy, fantasy, and art. I also enjoy board games and table-top RPGs and am keen to get into LARPing if I have the opportunity.
I speak English and German fluently, and am learning French (approx A2 level). I know a little Japanese, Maori, and Plattdeutsch (Mecklenburger).
I am incurably curious about everything, a hard worker, and a fast learner. I believe there is joy in working hard and maintaining traditional relationships with the land and nature. Sustainability and community are very important to me, and I will always bring a"can-do" Kiwi attitude!Interests

More details about your skills
I've grown up with DIY home construction/renovation, gardening, and animals. I'm handy and always willing to learn. I'm highly adaptable and curious about everything - if you show me how to do something, I won't need telling twice. My grandparents have a small farm with gardens, fruit, and chickens, and my high school time was spent on my parent's lifestyle block with geese, chickens, and a couple of cows. I took riding lessons as a child, and have always had cats and large dogs around.
Key skills:
- Carpentry, woodworking, painting, home renovation work: I am comfortable with carpentry (woodworking) and painting.
- Gardening: I'm handy with gardening grunt work - pruning, digging, lawn mowing, planting, ect. I am not very familiar with European plants anymore so I could not help with identifying/planning a garden, but I can maintain an existing patch, and have participated in multiple community clean-up or planting days. Very happy to get down in the mud or take on non-glamorous tasks like chopping firewood.
- Technology, customer service, tourism administration: My parents have operated a tourism business for over 15 years, which I helped out with at various points. I worked in customer service at an optometrist (reception and customer adviser) and subsequently worked as a lawyer in a very technology-heavy environment.
- Working with children, elderly, animals: I wanted to be a primary school teacher once, and completed an internship at a primary school in New Zealand. I've got a younger sibling and cousins who I am used to looking after, as well as experience babysitting for various family friends. My grandmother is 84 and I have been living with and supporting her. I'm comfortable with mammal pets, including large dogs (my own was a large German Shepherd). I love chickens and am happy to work with all larger farm animals.
Cooking: I am a fantastic sous/prep chef and dishwasher, but not a confident cook on my own. However, I am happy to help and learn!
Other interests: I love working with non-profits and community groups, and led a consulting group at University (https://www.thinkpod.org/). I've been involved in community theater projects as actress, director, and producer. I represented my school at team sailing competitions and hold a boatmaster certificate from the New Zealand Coast guard. While I am not confident in the open ocean, I can certainly handle myself on or near waterways.Age
