Holaa!

We are Asier (19) and Silvia (18).

We'd love to travel around the world collecting experiences, getting in touch with the authentic cultures of different places and meeting locals. We'd also like to acquire new skills and share ours with people who are interested in learning new things. When we travel, we like to take our time, fully experiencing the places we visit, and trying to reach areas less frequented by mass tourism.

We're both studing to be teachers and we love working with children. We also enjoy a peaceful life connected to nature, and in the future, we'd love to learn from many cultures and visit and get to know as many people and places as we can.

Someday, we’d love to kick off a bigger cultural project of our own. Until then, We’re here for the ride and different roads, soaking up the magic of music, people, and everything in between.

We both like education and being with children, which we have a great facility and we are quite good at it. On the other hand we are sportsmen and we like to be in contact with nature so we have no problem with working with the land. We also have experience in gardening and housework, as well as being with animals. We both come from small towns and are used to this kind of work, and what's more, we enjoy it

Me, Asier does rugby and Silvia does ballet, we both love sports and life in nature. We would like to meet new people and get to know new places in order to enrich ourselves. We met in high school and since then we have not separated, our dream is to be able to travel together and thus to know the world and its cultures.

Asier and Silvia’s profile sounded interesting — nature-loving, interested in culture, languages, and children. However, we saw little or none of these aspects during their stay. They stated that they spoke fluent English, which was not the case. At best, their level was beginner. Normally, communicating with Spanish speakers is not a problem for… read more us, since we speak Italian and the languages are quite similar. However, communication with them was very difficult. As a result, there was barely any cultural exchange.

There was no sense of community coming from their side. The few conversations we had took place only during meals. Otherwise, they did not seek contact with us. In the first few days, we took them to a secret beach and invited them to a pizza evening with friends at the beach. From their side, there was no offer to spend time together outside of meals or work. At some point, you stop offering those “extras” when there’s disinterest shown in most areas.

They would mostly just sit down for meals. We communicated clearly that we would appreciate help with meal preparation — something that should really go without saying. This only happened when explicitly asked. If the meal wasn’t ready yet, they would walk away and wait until it was. Doing the dishes also only happened when requested.

In terms of work, they were rather slow and unmotivated. The tasks were usually carried out properly, but without much initiative. During work, an electric shear broke — a screw came loose, and it was never found again, so it needs to be replaced. They were supposed to paint something, and instead of opening the lid, they punched holes into the can. We didn’t expect to have to explain to people from the countryside how to open a can of paint.

There was also a general lack of awareness or initiative in their work. They needed to be accompanied or given very simple tasks to get things done. Some tasks were not completed unless we were physically present. For example, there was a list of tasks to do independently — these were either ignored or poorly executed.

In general, there was no attention to detail. For instance: if the trash bin is full, change it; if trash is lying around, pick it up; put away both crates of water, not just one. These are just a few examples. They rarely showed up to work on time.

They slept in a tent. We asked them to close it when they left, as well as the sunshade — it’s often windy here, and things can get damaged. This request was ignored repeatedly, only being followed toward the end of their stay. The tent was left in an untidy state — the bedding was messy, many empty bottles were left, and the space had clearly not been swept.

Their profile also stated they were experts in housekeeping. In that case, one should know how to use a washing machine or that dishwater should be changed when it’s already dirty.

One of their main concerns was their days off. Even before their arrival, they repeatedly communicated which days they wanted off. In the end, they even took one extra day off by leaving earlier than agreed.

They also made no effort to bond with our child.
