Description
I am a laid-back but hard-working 25 year old born and raised in a quiet town on Scotland’s west coast. I had a happy childhood with many days spent exploring the forests and beaches which surround my beautiful hometown. This resulted in me developing a deep connection with nature.
My deep connection and fascination with nature led me to move to the city of Glasgow in 2019 and study an Environmental Management degree. I chose to study this subject due to my passion and desire to help preserve Scotland’s precious natural environment, as well as my aspiration to play a role in helping to improve the lives of people and communities who are likely to face negative impacts from climate change. I have recently graduated from university and am now seeking a new experience where i can volunteer and help make a positive difference to people’s lives whilst learning more about communities and cultures in other European countries.
As well as being very passionate about the environment, i also love meeting people from different backgrounds and creating new relationships. Therefore not only am i looking at opportunities which promote sustainability, i am also looking for opportunities which help create connections with other people and communities.
I have worked as a bar tender for the last 4 years whilst studying which i hope shows that i am a hardworking person who has people skills. My friends and colleagues often describe me as a sociable and kind person who shows interest in others. My hobbies include hiking/hill walking, reading, meditating, and playing/watching football. I am also keen to learn a new language and have recently been learning German, however i am still very new to this and am still a beginner.
I am new to Workaway but am very excited at the prospect of getting to explore new places, meet new people, learn more about new cultures, and hopefully develop my language learning skills!Interests

My previous job roles have allowed me to develop many skills. For example, my first job as a Kitchen Porter developed my skills in washing dishes and cleaning kitchen areas. Additionally this job taught me some cooking skills which i have continued to develop throughout my life!
My most recent job as a Bar tender has meant that i have gained skills in cocktail making and developed my knowledge in different types of alcohol and soft beverages. This job ensured i was able to work fast in a hygienic manner in a fast paced and often stressful environment. Dealing with members of the public in this job developed my people skills and helped make my communication and social skills highly effective.
I also have gardening skills which i developed throughout my childhood from helping my dad look after the garden in our family home. This often involved grass cutting, weeding, cutting back trees and planting flowers.
I also have experience in painting in decoration as my dad works as a painter and a teenager i would often help him as a method of earning money. This usually involved painting rooms inside peoples houses and painting garden fences.
However, i would say that my greatest skill overall is my ability to work had and try my best in any and every task i am completing!Age
