  • Description

Bos días! I’m Noelia and I grew up in Galicia, the northwestern coast of Spain.

I´m currently living in QLD (Warwick) with my partner for cause of his job. Next July I ´ll graduate in Veterinary Medicine, with plans to work in UK or Ireland. So I’ve decided to perform a volunteer program while I improve my English.

    About volunteering:
This is not new for me, as I’ve started volunteering since I was very young. My first experiences were taking part in organizing an international folklore festival for many summers, from a cultural association, exchanging folklore groups from different countries. Well, I really love my culture and roots, and this is something I always share when I travel abroad!
I’ve also participated in some workcamps along Europe. One of those projects were to make a great theater performance in a small village, working with elderly people through the theater.
Other one was very special for me, working in the renovation and transformation of an old monastery into a local youth hostel. Also, I was taking part of the Womex volunteering (international music festival)…
In short, be a volunteer, joining local groups, offers to me the opportunity to contribute to a better society, specially small towns and places where youth is necessary.

I recently began to travel with my partner more than I ever thought! Thanks to platforms like Couchsurfing and similar, we have enjoyed local experiences and met a lot of amazing people.

During my college years I was collaborating with behavioral medicine service in the local Veterinary Hospital, specially with animal shelter patients. In addition to the Ethology studies, I was joining some local and abroad internships. One of them, in Azores (Portugal) as an intern vet with Frisian cows for milk production, grazing in the hills (as extensive
farming). I’ve here discovered myself that I love to work in the countryside!

Currently, I am working in my final thesis, an study of the carbon footprint in sheep farming in my country, so I’m also learning how to deal with sheep and goats. Then, well, I think Australia is an ideal destination for improve these skills!

Moreover, I also grew up in this rural atmosphere. My mum has her own project on natural cosmetics while my dad works daily in the house garden. I am also learning about agriculture!

I’ve spent many years sharing my house with different people, being social and clean. Housework is not an obligation for me, it is necessary!

More details about my language interests
My mother languages are Spanish and Galician. I’m learning English and I’m able also to understand a little of Portuguese, Italian or French. To be honest, my English level is not proficient. Actually, it is low, but I’m trying my best to improve it, so I would like to learn as much as possible. I can teach some Spanish as an exchange if someone is interested!
