Travelling
Description
Hi, we are Pip and Josh, an optimistic pair who never let the weather get us down... or perhaps we are just British. We love being outdoors and doing anything active whether it's running, cycling, walking or playing cricket; so if it requires popping on some trainers, you can guarantee we will be there.
I (Pip) have been working as a town planner for the last few years for a local council in England and whilst I love looking at buildings and maps, I am really enjoying taking a year off to travel around New Zealand and Australia with my boyfriend, Josh. I'm always up for trying new things and am very easy going, happy to give anything a try. I am a very friendly person and can't resist a chat which has been both a blessing and a curse when out and about.
I really enjoy helping people out and finding solutions to problems, that make things work in the best way possible. Playing team sports for what feels like forever has made me into a great team player.
Josh is a qualified Primary school teacher and is returning to his job in January, where he will be teaching a class of Year 5 students. He is an extremely cheerful and calm person, even earning the nickname which he loves to hate, of Jolly Josh. Josh has over 10 years of experience as a cricket coach where he has worked in primary and secondary schools and also worked with high level junior county players. He loves sport and has taken up playing baseball in the last couple of years, which has meant travelling to lots of interesting places around England to play.
Coming in a close second to baseball of Josh's favourite things are movies. From the cinema to the soundtracks, there aren't many movies he hasn't seen or enjoyed and is always on hand to give a detailed review.
Josh and I love animals and have been making our way around Australia dog sitting, which has been great. We also spent a month on K'Gari (Fraser Island), in Queensland as volunteer house keepers for a tour company. This involved washing copious amounts of sheets, cooking meals for the tour groups and generally keeping the house clean and tidy. Whilst on the island, we were lucky enough to see lots of dingos, however are still finding sand in our bags 4 months on.
We are both really enjoying this year's adventure so far and hope we bring our can do attitude and good vibes to a workaway soon.Interests

More details about your skills
I (Pip) studied Geography and Planning at University and have been working as a planner for the past few years. I have a good knowledge of building terminology and have visited many building sites and looked at lots of plans for various types of development. Whilst I am not a builder, I have a good understanding of what does and doesn't work and have lots of experience interpreting complicated legislation, so could potentially be of use if you have any building projects ongoing or planned.
We are both qualified cricket coaches and generally physically fit, so are happy and able to lift heavy things and generally carry out manual labour where needed. We have previously helped out at our local cricket club preparing the ground and facilities for the cricket season, so have experience with painting, shrub clearing and general gardening.
Having worked in numerous hospitality jobs and whilst working on K'Gari, we are knowledgeable about food preparation and safe storage and I love cooking and am always keen to rustle up something tasty.
I am very organised and have good organisational and admin skills, through working in my job at the Council, so would be happy to help with any business admin or organisation if this is something that would be helpful.
Josh is a qualifed primary school teacher and has experience teaching all subjects to children up to age 11. He really enjoys working with children and is a great people person so would be able to help with children's homework from time to time if needed.
Generally, we are very positive people and really happy to take on any task. Having never dog sat previously for more that 2 days, myself and Josh have developed a great rapport with every animal we have looked after so far and have got to grips quickly with feeding and walking routines at each dog sit we have done. We would be more than happy to learn about any animal care needs as we go and hope this may be of help.Age

What else ...
We are both sports lovers and enjoy playing or watching just about anything. We are especially keen on cricket and Josh plays baseball at home in the UK. Josh is a qualified teacher and has lots of experience sports coaching.
