I have a degree in Geology and worked for a short time on oil rigs. I joined the Royal Navy as a commissioned Officer. I stayed for 11 years flying in helicopters and larger aircraft. I also took watches on the bridge, dived, and taught maths to young ratings. After that I studied law and worked as a solicitor practising family law, child law and elderly client law. I am now retired though active as an education volunteer for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution that requires me to visit schools and youth groups to give presentations on water safety. I also volunteer for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, as treasurer for a local orchestra, mentoring teenage students at a local college and also leading a blind cyclist on tandem rides. I have a DBS certificate. I play lots of music both at home on the piano, in a local symphony orchestra, and with a string quartet group. I teach piano to beginners. I have a lovely garden at home and a house that requires lots of maintenance that I do myself. I cycle a lot and practice yoga every day of the week.
