  • Description

Hi! I'm Sara from Slovenia and I have just finished my master’s degree in Psychology. I travelled my whole life, so meeting people, changing the environment and learning about other cultures is what keeps me sane. Even though I am a psychologist, my true passion lies within human-animal interactions and to eventually become an animal-assisted psychotherapist. I see a benefit in the naturalness in our interactions with animals and nature, and bringing some intuition and nature back to humans seems essential for our future collective well-being and mental stability. So what truly makes me happy is seeing animals, cuddling them and making their life easier, since they help me so much just by interacting with me.

I would describe myself as adventurous, kind, thoughtful and resourceful.

Even though I am new to this site, I am not new to volunteering, as I have been an active volunteer my whole life - mostly with children and people with special needs. I am looking for a new experience, far from home, doing something new and exciting, while learning as much as I can - every day is a new chance to learn. After studying, I decided to take a much-needed brake to live my life to the fullest and travel as much as I can. I had a dream of visiting Thailand for years now, however Covid-19 messed up with my plans (as it did with all of us), so I had to postpone my expedition until now.
I am really hoping I am able to visit Asia this year and I am already excited to meet you!

More details about my language interests
One of my favourite things about travelling is also picking up new phrases in local languages or dialects. Before I visit a country, I try to teach myself at least some basic greetings, words and phrases, which help me interact with locals in a much more natural way. Based on the fact that my native language Slovenian has only around 2,4 million speakers, I am assuming my knowledge of English might be more useful in most cases. I studied English in school for more than 10 years, after which I lived in the Netherlands for 1,5 years, where I spoke and studied in English. I would love to help you in advancing your language skills!

  • More details about your skills

So, as you might have read, I am primarily a psychologist, but I do have experience in working with children - I worked as a school counselor for almost a year, as well as my volunteer work. Regarding animal care - I owned guinea pigs, rabbits, and now we have a family dog called Luna. I also worked with kids and ponies, as a part of workshops.
Anyhow, I am a practical person and I learn new skills fast. I am open to trying everything, I don't shy away from power tools and I am objectively strong for a woman (that happens when you grow up competing with boys and when you have weightlifting and climbing as hobbies). I am always up for learning new things and picking up new hobbies.
I have quite solid computer skills, and I can speak three languages. I have tons of hobbies, which come with a lot of random skills (sewing, painting, diy projects).
Even though I might not have many useful skills, I am confident in my ability to pick them up fast and adapt to your needs.
