Description
Where I live now has given me the freedom to become who I am today. This happened after I moved to the hills in the south of India and started running a backpackers. After my corporate work life where I found very little balance, I ended up in a place surrounded by nature and wildlife. This is also where I started following my passion of working in the kitchen. From pastries to cakes and conducting events, I have found myself among the tea gardens. Travelling had always been my one true escape and I was able to understand volunteering only after working here. I also work in a NGO that rescues and helps animals. I found out more about giving back to the community through them. And that’s how I found the way to mix travel and volunteering to create real memories.

My love for languages was initiated by my Dad. He made me realise the importance of knowing one's language to connect with someone (any kind of communication, I'd say). We used to sit together and quiz each other on how many words we knew from a different language. This exposure has helped me pick up languages easily and always makes me want to learn a new one. I can help in teaching English and any other Indian languages that I know.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

I run a backpacker's hostel in the south of India, its called The Door to Nirvana. I manage the hostel's booking, guest management, activities and volunteer management too. I have also cooked for the entire hostel on New year's twice now. I am a wall mural artist, yoga teacher, aspiring chef and a member of SPCA here. I have worked for several hostels with getting their painting & art work done. I have also conducted a Mosaic and Yoga retreat in my hostel which was a huge success. Along with a volunteer from Colombia, I learnt the art of mosaic art and also mage a huge artwork in our hostel.

What else ...
I could play any games in the world. And this would definitely be an ice-breaking session for me, because I am not the most extroverted or introverted person in the room. We play cricket, badminton and dumb charades with guests at our hostel. I love sports and play almost every game like football, basketball, volleyball, anything with a ball(not intended :D).
One of the biggest reasons I travel is to know the culture of a country from the locals, the food, places to see and things to do. I generally avoid touristy places and overpriced experiences when I travel. Some more information
