Hi! We are Melissa and Rayyan, a 20-year-old couple from the UK. We have both just graduated from university (June 2025), and are hoping to go on some adventures together for the rest of the year!
We both love nature, animals, camping, and meeting people from different cultures. We are both very hardworkers, who have had full time jobs alongside our degrees, so are very willing and able to help out on all different kinds of fun workaway projects!
We are both non-drinkers and non-smokers, who much prefer spending time in nature, playing games and having cool, unique experiences to being in a club or bar.

Hello, I'm Melissa. I have recently completed an undergraduate degree in philosophy. I love learning new facts and skills, and having interesting conversations with people about life, politics, religion and nature. I am very friendly and chatty, always up for a debate or heartfelt conversation!
For 2+ years I have been teaching myself all about the environment and sustainability, and do my best to implement eco-conscious practices into my life.
I am a massive animal lover (especially dogs and elephants!), and an experienced dog walker. I am a very creative person, with far too many hobbies to count including reading, sewing, knitting, crotchet, jewellery making, and more!

I have recently reverted to Islam, and am excited to explore the world at the same time as expanding my faith! I am currently starting to learn Arabic, and would love some help with this, as well as any other languages really. I am sharing my journey and daily life on social media, as well as videos which raise awareness about environmental conservation. I hope to expand this into a career in factual television or writing.

My favourite part of a past workaway was getting to know my lovely hosts, their culture, and becoming a part of the family! I hope to experience this again in all parts of the world!

Hi, I'm Rayyan. I'm British, but my family is from Mauritius. I have a bachelors degree in psychology, and after taking some time out to travel, I hope to continue my education to become a Child Wellbeing Practitioner. I have two years of experience working in social care for adults with learning disabilities.

In my spare time, I enjoy running and football. I have already completed two half marathons, and hope to start training for another very soon! I love to explore new places and nature on my runs.
This year I did my first skydive, and am looking for more exciting experiences like this before 2025 is over!

I am very interested in all different cultures, and my favourite part of visiting new countries is trying the different food and drinks! I am fluent in English, French and Mauritian Creole, and am currently studying Spanish and Arabic.

Rayyan speaks fluent French and Mauritian Creole, and beginner level Spanish. We have both worked as activity leaders and tour guides for an English Language School, so have experience in helping people improve their english speaking skills, and in teaching them about english history.

Melissa:
I am an experienced dog walker and dog sitter. I have also worked with outdoor huskies on a previous workaway. I have also had cats my whole life.
I have four years of experience in hospitality as a bartender, waitress and event supervisor.
I am good at cooking and baking - I love experimenting with different homecooked meals, especially seafood, soups and Italian.
I can sew and knit - I made handmade curtains and matching cushion-covers for my previous hosts who were renovating their house. I also helped them with renovation works including painting outdoor furniture, revamping a greenhouse, wallpapering and designing a room layout.
I have interned as a researcher at a Documentary Production company, so have proficient computer based skills including Excel spreadsheets, basic video editing and AI prompting.
I am currently growing my following on social media, so can help out with any online marketing.
I am teaching myself all about sustainable living, so would be happy to help anyone implement eco-conscious solutions into their lifestyle!

I could not have asked for a better first experience using Workaway than when I decided to go and stay with Klara and Ricky at their amazing home in West Sweden. I was nervous for my trip, as it was my first time traveling alone, but from the moment I met Klara at the airport I felt calm and warmly welcomed.
Klara and Ricky's small farm is a… read more beautiful place to stay, located next to a gorgeous lake, and surrounded by a huge woodland; it is the perfect place for nature lovers or anyone in search of a peaceful lifestyle, secluded from busy everyday life. Their dogs (three Siberian huskies) are the sweetest creatures I have ever met, each with a distinct and wonderful personality; I grew very close to the dogs during my stay and was so sad to leave them, they are amazing company just like their owners! The two outdoor cats are also very sweet and so soft to have a cuddle with.
I stayed in my own cabin next to the main house, which was so cosy and had everything I needed for my stay, including my own bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room - it was like having my own home! The perfect place to go if I needed any time to myself to study or relax.
However, I spent most of my time in the main house or outdoors in the garden and surrounding land. Klara and Ricky were such kind hosts, and made sure I was included in everything, treating me like a member of the family. I joined their easter and birthday celebrations; we took small day trips together to surrounding towns; and at home had cosy dinners together followed by long conversations and board games. I truly felt as though I had lived with them forever and will miss staying there so so much! They were always ready to answer any questions I had about Sweden or life on a home-farm (or life in general!) over a fika, and I was happy to get to teach them about life in the UK. Sweden is a beautiful country with very friendly people. I would recommend for anyone who stays to take a trip into Gothenburg for the day, and especially to go to the Universeum which is an amazing nature museum.
During my stay, me and Klara managed to complete many different projects together including painting furniture for outdoors, wallpapering the entryway, planting fruits and vegetables, cleaning out the greenhouse, and many more daily tasks like feeding the chickens which all add to the experience of learning about a different lifestyle. I have learned so much from Klara and Ricky, like how to be more resourceful and use the things I have to make something new, and to not get stressed out when a project does not turn out how I hoped - we can simply start again!
I am truly grateful for the amazing experience that Klara and Ricky provided for me. I am really going to miss them and hope to go back and stay with them again whenever I can! I would recommend staying with this host to anybody who is uncertain, you will have an amazing time. Thank you Klara and Ricky, and good luck with your next workawayer :)
