Hello,
We are Ludivine & Fernand, nice to meet you !
We are both French but we live in Montreal (Quebec, Canada) since 2019 and are permanent residents of Canada since March 2023.
We met in Montreal in 2019 while we were both volunteering for an event organizer offering Christmas Villages in Montreal.
In March 2022, we bought a GMC Savana that we decided to convert into a campervan. We started from scratch and 16 months later we decided to take some time off and left Montreal in order to travel around the USA and Canada.
We are spending winter 2024 (January-February-March) in the west side of Canada and would love to be able to get some workaway experiences there!
We are currently (26-01-2024 to 20-02-2024) in a sheep farm near to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where we take care of the feeding and watering of 40 sheep, some chickens, 4 dogs & 4 cats. We also help with cleaning the sheds and building / renovating different things. We worked on several small projects and two bigger projects (renovate a deck and create a wall for a shed).
Fernand is 34 years old (1989). In our 'daily' life, he is working in construction and has more than 10 years of experience as an operator excavator. He is really good with all kind of manual tasks and has strong experiences in woodwork and masonry. He is ok with quite a lot of tools : sander, drill, chainsaw, jigsaw, circular saw, shovel, pickaxe, etc. He is the one who imagined our campervan and did most of the work. He is quite good at finding solutions or ways to do things better and quicker. He can be a workaholic when he is passionated about the tasks. He had previous experiences of volunteering in Portugal.
Ludivine is 32 years old (1991). In our 'daily' life she is working in sales and spent the last 3 years in an urban planning company specialized in stormwater management. She does not define herself as a manual person but she is always willing to learn and able to do very different kind of tasks. She helped a lot Fernand with building the campervan. Also, she had successful previous experiences with workaway in New Zealand where she lived during a year (2018-2019) : 3 weeks in a Kiwi Orchard (cutting and moving wood, digging, planting trees, etc.), 2 weeks and a half in a dairy farm (cleaning the shed, feeding the calves and doing the morning and/or afternoon milking (around 400 cows)) and 2 weeks and a half in a beef and sheep farm (feeding the 473 calves, helping with the lambs). She also worked 3 weeks in a dairy farm as a real employee (morning and afternoon milking, feeding 4 groups of 30 calves). It is been a long time but as long as she has instructions, she should be fine!
Ludivine learned English at school and was able to practice a lot and make progress with her travels. Her English is not perfect but she manage easily to work and live with only this language.
Fernand, unfortunately, doesn't speak English (for the moment!). But he really wants to learn and has some basics in construction vocabulary. As he is not shy, he could improve quickly!
We both are organized, independent, dynamic and enthusiastic!
