Hey, nice to meet you!
We are a hardworking couple from the UK with our gorgeous Romanian rescue dog called Lea. We are currently living London and working in the charity and hospitality sectors. We are looking to spend some extended time away working/volunteering this summer. Our dream is to start our own campsite in future and restore buildings on site, so any skills which we can gain which are relevant to this would be awesome. We both love to travel, explore new places and ways of life, and get our energy from meeting new people and new experiences. We love music and art. Both of us have had art projects going on in the past and we love going to festivals and events which bring communities together! We have travelled a lot together and separately, and always want to discover new places we haven't been, and to experience them with locals who can really teach us about each place we go to.
We love animals and nature and often go on hiking and surfing holidays, but we are hoping to make the transition from this time spent doing what we love on holiday, to our every day, which is why we'd love to come and stay with you as workawayers and be inspired for our future away from London!
Ed is available to work or volunteer full time on the project/site. Ed is a chef with over 13 years experience heading up kitchens and cafes. Ed now runs a kitchen in a social enterprise restaurant which supports members of the local community. Lucy works remotely part-time for a foodbank charity, and has every weekend, every evening and some days during the week available to work or volunteer at the project. Lucy has previously managed bars and cafes and has event management experience, and we both have extensive experience in customer service, tourism and hospitality. We're both creative and could offer art workshops and we are open to other ideas you have for work - we are very open people and can turn our hand to most things!
Lucy has spent time working in busy seasonal ski resort towns in the Tyrolean mountains, and lived in Germany (in Heidelberg and Berlin) for a year and a half. Lucy is conversationally fluent in German and we are both open to learning new languages. Ed lived in Australia for 3 years where he started his career as a Chef.
Due to Lucy's work, we would require a good internet connection and a host who would accept our dog, Lea. Lea is very calm and respectful of boundaries, and gets on well with all other animals, including cats :)
We would love to hear from you and hopefully get to know more about you! Just let us know if you have any questions for us, we're always up for a chat!Interests

More details about your skills
Ed is a professional and experienced Head Chef and has worked in a variety of restaurants, from fine dining to street food establishments. Ed now works in the charity sector, running a social enterprise kitchen which delivers community programmes and meals to adults and young people with vulnerabilities. He has run Chef Traineeship programmes for young people who have left the traditional education system and would apply this experience in the food, hospitality and charity sector and to any relevant tasks.
Lucy has over 10 years experience in hospitality, working primarily in front of house roles (restaurant management, service, barista, customer satisfaction, events management) and has also had kitchen experience in street food and festival settings. Lucy has worked in busy seasonal restaurants in ski resorts and managed bars in Berlin and London. Lucy now works full time in a foodbank charity, and has extensive experience in charity management and coproduction with service users (in addiction recovery and homelessness sectors).
We are both hardworking, efficient and inquisitive in our work. We are both keen to learn new skills in food growing, DIY, maintenance, building, and animal care. We are both practical, competent, hardworking individuals who can turn our hand to almost anything! We would be very open to ideas on how we could help towards any project.
We are both creative and active, and would be keen to get stuck in to facilitating workshops and activity groups if these were on offer. We both have enhanced DBS checks which enables us to work with children and vulnerable adults, and have experience of running community groups and workshops which seek to support young people and adults in to independent living (including food programmes and teambuilding workshops).
We hope to open our own campsite and programme which supports the community and helps people to connect with nature who face barriers to these experiences. Any skills or experience we could gain which would help with our future dream would be brilliant.
We are also hobby gardeners and are keen to work outdoors. Ed has a Dog Training qualification (which he would be keen to use with anyone who might need it!) and we are both great with all animals.Age

What else ...
Our dog Lea is around 6 or 7 years old. We adopted her from Romania 3 years ago, so we do not know her breed. She has a very calm nature and is good with all animals. She does not often leave our side and enjoys walks in the countryside. She would get on with cats and other animals who share the space with her and loves the sofa. We would love you to meet her!
Ed is available for full time work or volunteering. Lucy works remotely part-time, and is available for work/volunteering every evening, every weekend, and some days during the week. For this reason, we would require an internet connection. We would ideally have accommodation provided, if possible. We would gladly cook communal meals and are keen to learn from you and your experiences too! Some more information
