  • Description

    Hey everyone, I’m Lisa!
I currently live in Cologne Germany, where I just finished my Masters in History and English as a Teaching Profession. I’m not really sure if I’ll eventually end up teaching in public schools as my pedagogical core values mostly clash with the education system in Germany. This is a deadlock I could talk about for hours :D Anyway, I nevertheless decided to start my teacher training in November 2025 – but only on the condition that I take the time now to leave Germany for about half a year. For more than a year now, I’ve been feeling the urge to get away, escaping my routines, broadening my mind and being inspired by different surroundings. That’s why I’m finally travelling to Australia, which has been on my bucket list for a while now.

I'm a nature-loving, mindful, adventurous and curious person. For me, travelling means learning about different cultures by really getting in touch with the land and people in the most respectful way. My favourite way to travel is camping and exploring a country on foot (and public transport), so my favourite shoes are my hiking boots :) As a scout I was lucky enough to have many opportunities to do this. Some of my favourite trips were hiking and wild camping in Sweden, Slovenia and Romania - trips where I improved my relationship with myself and the group I was travelling with by enduring extreme situations together (mostly caused by total exhaustion and weather conditions we weren't prepared for :D).

I have a passion for sport and have done many different sports throughout my life (field hockey, dancing, swimming, boxing and many more). I currently enjoy lifting weights, running, yoga and meditation. I'm also a book lover! I'm currently reading the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson, which has most of the things I'm looking for in a book: Medieval setting, slow and thorough well-written character development, no black and white characters, and thoughtful world-building - all spread over 1000+ pages per book :D If you want to chat about your favourite books, you'll find an open door!

I really enjoy good company and deep conversations, I'm always drawn to people talking passionately about their lives. However, I'm also an introvert in the sense that my social battery needs a lot of time to recharge. I'm eager to learn new skills and enjoy learning about new topics. My personal areas of interest change quickly as I'm quickly inspired by other people's stories. At the moment I'm interested in educational justice, spirituality, sport & the female cycle and political strategies.

More details about my language interests
I have an affinity for languages, linguistics as well as literature. I would love to improve my English fluency (as my English is sadly a little rusted from not being able to converse in a while) and as a former teacher of German as a Foreign language I can especially offer to give anyone an understanding of my mother tongue.

  • More details about your skills

My job/volutary experience is mostly in teaching and youth work: Among others, I tought German as a Foreign language, worked as a tutor/mentor for individual children with learning difficulties and led a scouting group.

I'm very competent in mediation, moderation and communication on eye level.

I'm very eager to learn new skills and would love to embrace a variety of tasks that I am not accustomed to. I would describe myself as a fast learner and I'm especially searching for physical and creative tasks!
