  • Description

    Moin!
My name is Lennart and I am 26 years old. My hometown is Hamburg. A big harbor city in northern Germany.
6 years ago I was in South America for a few weeks. At that time I traveled from Bolivia via Peru, Colombia to Panama and placed more value on the classic tourist sights. During this time I learned to love the exciting culture and the peaceful people of this continent and even then I knew that I would return soon! This time not only as a tourist, but to make my contribution as a helpful part of the community.
In the meantime I have completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and gained some professional experience. In my everyday life, too, I attach great importance to supporting one another and not always just working for money. For the repair of a terrace e.g. installed a new light in my car.

Since July '23, me and my gorgeous girlfriend are travelling around in south America and now, after half a year, further to Canada. We started in the northern Peru and made our way to the north of Colombia via Ecuador.
Through our journey we were volunteering on two horse ranches, a hostel and a campground.

    Hey there,
My name is Jasmin, I am 27 years old and I am traveling with Lennart. As it will be my first long journey I am very excited. I really like the principle of Workaway and I'm excited to see what exciting experiences await us.
The reason for our trip is actually a very classic one: After completing our studies and some time in everyday life, "the ceiling fell on our heads" (as we say in Germany, everyday life annoyed us). The longing to travel to distant countries was always a common dream of Lennart and me. In 2017, for example, we traveled through Eastern Europe with an Interrail ticket and in these 6 weeks we were able to have lastingly impressive experiences that only fueled our wanderlust.
In everyday life, Lennart and I often go into nature with his van at the weekend and have learned to love peace, campfires and the connection with nature there.
Since I grew up on a horse farm, hard and need-oriented work is an all too familiar term to me. I have also been able to develop a sense of responsibility and the ability to work in a team over the years. Thanks to my psychology degree, I find it easy to deal with animals and people, and I enjoy it just as much. In addition, I would say that I didn't "fall on my head" in terms of craftsmanship either, since my father was a master cabinetmaker and my partner is a carpenter. As a result, a basic understanding and motivation regarding manual challenges has been part of my life since childhood.

In summary, we would describe ourselves as open-minded, motivated and responsible. We are looking forward to the time and hope to make some interesting encounters.

  • More details about your skills

    Lennart:
I am a trained carpenter and have been working as a self-employed craftsman since my apprenticeship. I regularly deal with various challenges and building materials (wood, stone, metal, concrete, etc.). Since my school days I have enjoyed painting and therefore have a good eye for proportions, colors and shapes. I get along with people very well and have already had experience in gastronomy. I love animals and life on the farm. I'm also physically fit because I've done martial arts for a long time and working on the construction site requires fitness.

    Jasmin:
My childhood and youth on the horse farm taught me how to deal with animals at an early age. I already have experience with horsemanship, leisure riding, training young horses, giving riding lessons and the classic care work around horses.
I have experience with various other animals (goats, geese, dogs, cats etc.).
A few years ago I earned some experience in gastronomy and teaching students.
My main education is in the field of psychology. This year I was able to successfully complete my master's degree. In the past I have worked a lot in the social field (with disabled children and young people, disabled adults, drug addicts and other people in need of help). Accordingly, the focus of my expertise is not only on the horses, but also on social aspects.

Not only at home, but also on our travelling, we worked on various building projects together and function very good as a team. We overcome problems with creative ideas, especially when it comes to repairing stuff like fences etc.
The working on farms with animals, mostly horses and cows, still appeals to us and it's always interesting to see the different ways of handling those.
Working in a hostel was also a nice experience for us, because the meeting of many different people always had good conversations in store and the process of handling the reservations etc was very interesting to learn.
Our experience on the campground was kind of a mixture of the above because there was much land to do farm work, like gardening, building and repairing stuff, and also communicating and socializing with the guests.
