  • Description

Hey, I'm Lennart. I'm 21, originally from Germany. I finished school two years ago, spent some time working, and then decided to take off and explore the world. For the past 13 months, I've been soaking up life in New Zealand. It's been a wild ride of traveling, meeting incredible people, and just learning what it feels like to be truly out in the world.

I'd say I'm someone who really loves living. Nothing beats a great conversation, staying active, and collecting memories that actually mean something. I'm a huge football fan, I'm at my happiest outdoors, and I thrive when I'm moving, exploring, or sharing an experience with others. I guess you could call me a "life enthusiast" — endlessly curious, always open, and forever up for the next little adventure.

This whole journey has taught me so much—less about places and more about people, different perspectives, and ways of living. I love getting a glimpse into someone else's everyday life and taking a little piece of it with me. For me, growth happens through real experiences, not routines, and I'm always eager to learn something new or push myself in ways I didn't expect.

To me, traveling isn't just ticking off destinations. It's about connection, understanding, and gathering moments that actually stick with you. I feel really grateful to be on this path, and I'm just genuinely excited for whatever comes next.

More details about my language interests
I absolutely enjoy learning languages! I believe that speaking different languages is a great way to connect with people and understand different cultures. So far, I speak German (my native language) and English, and I’m also a beginner in Japanese. I’m open to learning new languages, whether it’s picking up some basics of the local language in each place I visit or improving my existing language skills. I find it exciting to communicate in different ways, and I think it really enhances the experience of traveling and living abroad.

  • More details about your skills

The first three months in New Zealand, I was based in the little seaside town of Oamaru, staying with my uncle and his family. They have their own carpentry workshop, so I jumped right in and got my hands dirty. I learned the basics of building, using all sorts of tools, and how to figure things out as you go. It was a fantastic, practical start—I loved seeing a project take shape from a pile of wood.

Since leaving Oamaru, I've done a bunch of Workaways all over the country. It's been a real mix: I've painted houses, worked in gardens, helped out on farms, and taken care of general maintenance and cleaning. I've also tackled smaller DIY projects—assembling furniture, fixing things up, and doing whatever practical jobs needed doing. I really enjoy pitching in where it's useful and seeing a task through to the end.

I like to think I'm easy-going, dependable, and up for anything. Whether it's learning a brand-new skill from scratch, helping with a building project, or just being an extra pair of hands in the daily routine, I'm keen. I get a lot of satisfaction from physical work, whether it's with animals, in a garden, or on a repair—there's something great about looking back at what you've accomplished at the end of the day.

I’m positive, adapt easily, and enjoy working as part of a team or on my own. I don’t mind getting stuck into a problem and figuring it out. For me, the best way to learn is by doing. So, if there's a job that needs doing, I'm always ready to give it my best shot!

  • What else ...

I’m easy to live with, respectful, and tidy. I value clear communication and a positive atmosphere and I’m always happy to help where needed.

I enjoy both active days and quiet evenings, good food, shared meals, and meaningful conversations. I’m open-minded, curious, and always grateful for the chance to be part of everyday life rather than just passing through.
