Description

Hi We are Léa and Antoine, 26 and 32 y.o. We are a french couple, traveling in Canda since april 2025.

We already crossed the Canada from Montreal to Vancouver, then to Whitehorse. We are now currently in Blind Bay (South Est of BC) until end of February 2026.

We are looking for a paid Workaway in West Canada for 2026.

What we already did :
- Housekeeping,
- Wood renovations - door frames, facade,
- Painting, Gypsum/drywall installation, insulation,
- Ground maintenance, gardening, fruits picking,
- x35 to x45 sled dogs to feed and take care of,
- x200 Chickens,
- Wood cutting

To Whom It May Concern,
Lea and Antoine came to us the beginning of August 2025 and will be here until the beginning
of January. They immediately got to work learning what they needed to know about our small
farm and sled dog kennel.
There was no hesitation, on their part, to get started and dive right into the daily chores.
Both made it clear they were here to do a good job and this was obvious from the beginning.
As time went on they became more independent with the work with the dogs and earned the
animals trust quite quickly. Lea even worked out various schedules for themselves and other
helpers, to help things run more smoothly. She has a knack for organization.
Both of us have been working full time and part time and have been very relaxed about having
Antoine and Lea working here. We developed full confidence in their abilities to take care of our
kennel and the chickens.
They frequently checked to be sure what they were doing was what we needed. They also took
on learning how to run the atv and side by side with the idea of running dogs for training when
the time came. Antoine was also extremely helpful with fixing things in the kennel and building
us some better feeding structures to make feeding the dogs more efficient. Also, anytime we
needed some repairs in the kennel he was on it.
Firewood collection is imperative here when your only source of heat is wood. They cut their
own wood and any wood we cannot use was put into the chipper which Antoine quickly
mastered.
Generally the jobs required of them were picking berries late summer, building hugel mounds
for vegetable production, feeding and watering the dogs and cleaning the kennels. (We have 38
sled dogs in the kennel and 7 in the house) The cleaning and watering needed to be done
twice a day. They also took on the free running of the dogs for their exercise through the warm
weather and later continued this in the winter along with running small teams to keep them fit
and happy.
With the chickens, (over 150 of them) eggs needed to be collected twice a day and the
chickens watered, both in summer and the winter months. The eggs needed to be hand
washed for sale each day.
They are a very likeable couple and very easy to get along with. Both are hard working
individuals and would be an asset to anyone wishing to have them work for them.
If we were able to hire them we would, to have them manage our small farm and racing kennel.
They are kind and trustworthy and our dogs love and respect them. This is very important to
us, for our dogs.

We love to explore outside, do some hiking. We also love to practice nautical activities (we want to learn more about surfing, we already had several experiences).
