Hi all!
My name is Hiske, I'm born and raised in the Netherlands but spent a lot of time on the African continent (mainly in Sierra Leone, Kenya & South-Africa) over the past few years. Since November 2024, I'm a freelancer who works remote while travelling in Southern Africa. I'm currently only working 1 day a week.
The company I work for specializes in setting up projects (mostly for NGOs) that help reduce or capture emissions: agroforestry, biochar, reforestation projects, etc. This is more from a project management side of things, and I'm beyond excited to contribute to and learn about such initiatives (but also permaculture, and organic farming) on the ground. Get my hands dirty!
About me. My friends would describe me as high-energy, enthusiastic and eager to learn. Things that make me happy are hiking, camping in nature, festivals & long conversations while baking, cooking and sharing food. Oh yeah and seeing or cuddling happy animals (especially pigs!) make my heart happy as well!

My professional skills are in hospitality and project management. In my private life, I've developed skills in cooking and baking and I've volunteered at different festivals in Kenya and South-Africa where I helped mainly with setting up the venue, decoration and artworks. I'm good with animals (in my teenager years, I spent all my free time at the farm of good friends with sheep, dogs, cats, and horses) & kids (a lot of babysitting). I am physically fit and eager to learn practical skills!
