HI! My name is Gyna Rocourt and I'm 23 and I’m currently travelling before starting my masters in Barcelona. I have always loved to discover new places and cultures and learn new things. I love arts and am passionate about social justice and human rights. For the past 2 years I’ve also been working for a human rights film festival. I enjoy exploring cities, but I truly am myself when I’m out in nature hiking and enjoying. I am hard working, determined, always positive and craving new experiences. Hi! My name is Gyna Rocourt, I'm 19 years old, and currently studying Liberal Arts and Science at University College Roosevelt in the Netherlands. My mother language is Dutch, but I'm also fluent in English (doing my study in English), and I have a basic knowledge of French. I would love to learn new languages, especially Italian, Spanish, and more French!
My interests are very broad, but I'm especially focused on law, politics (focus on human rights and international relations) and art. I am a dancer, and always have been. I am also currently studying dance at Fontys Dance Academy.
I am an energetic, positive and openminded girl, who is eager to learn and to explore everything. I would love to meet new people and to help you out, and I will always do this with a smile on my face :) !

I stayed with Mariana and Nicolò and their three lovely girls from the beginning of July till mid August and it was the most wonderful time of my life. It was my first workaway experience and I certainly was a tad nervous, but they all made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. Mariana and Nicolò, as well as the girls, all showed interest in… read more my life and culture, which created a really comfortable atmosphere and also gave me the possibility to learn about their culture, background and traditions. Mariana and Nicolò were always available to help me out with any questions I had, regarding Venice, other places to visit or any practical problems encountered during the day.

The first day in Venice they immediately took me with them on their new boat and showed me all around the lagune. Something I would probably never have experienced if it was not for them :). Venice is a breathtaking city and I would often just wander around for hours exploring all the streets where no tourist came. The previous au pair was still in Venice and she also showed me around. Mariana knows a lot of other families with au pairs in Venice and was always doing her best to introduce me to new people.

Regarding the schedule, there was a lot of flexibility. I would always have the weekend off to travel around Italy (with amazing tips from Mariana and Nicolò) or to explore Venice on my own or with friends. If during the week some days had been a bit busier, I would get an extra day off to compensate. Mariana and Nicolò always take you into account and make you feel incredibly appreciated. During the beginning of my stay Olivia and Camilla were going to a summer camp, so I would often bring them and pick them up (or one of the two) and play at home with Sofia. Later all three were at home or at camp, so we would play at home, outside, go for a little walk, visit the beach, or go to the park. At the end of the day I would sometimes bring them to Mariana or Nicolò at their work. The girls love playing and joking around, but are also the most polite girls ever, with an incredible level of English.

At the end of my stay my family came to visit me and Mariana and Nicolò offered them a lot of tips and even invited all of them over for a delicious dinner :)) ! It was an unforgettable experience and I am very much looking forward to seeing this loving family sometime soon again!
