Hello everybody!

I'm a 23-year-old student from Germany. I'm going to finish my bachelor‘s degree in English and pedagogy in the next month but sadly I can't get in touch with the language and the English-speaking culture a lot in my studies and that's why I'm here now :) I'd like to make new experiences and meet new people.
I'd say I'm an open, funny but also clean and organized person, who likes to chat and spend time with other people. I love being outdoors but I also enjoy staying in playing some video games or reading a good book. :)
I've been living alone / in a shared flat for 3 years now, therefore, I know how to prepare a range of meals and I know how to keep things clean and tidy.

I study English in my 6th semester now but sadly we don't have to talk that much in university :( Therefore, I'd love to practise my English and conversation skills :) I can also try to teach you some German!

- I have had a dog for 10 years now, so I'm used to taking walks and handling a dog who pulls on the leash sometimes. But obviously playing and cuddling with a dog is the best part!

- I have two small cousins (3 and 5) whom I like to play with during family reunions and holidays. (They think I'm cool which hopefully counts as something)

- I've been working in a retail job for almost 3 years now, which probably gave me the skill to talk to strangers more easily :)

I love reading books (mostly fantasy I'd say) and I'm currently trying to read 20 books per year!
I also enjoy playing video games if I have the time.
Sometimes I cosplay, which means I can sew (to some extend) and I love crafting!
I'm also a huge plant lover!
One could also consider me a nerd, since I've been playing DND since 2020 now and I love stuff like Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and so on.

George is simply the best and probably the best host one could ask for. After my six weeks at his place, I would even consider us to be friends and I’ll most certainly come to visit him and Polly when I get the chance! He lives in a large but cosy house that you and George always maintain clean and tidy. The kitchen has a wonderful and comfortable… read more fireplace that I enjoyed lighting in the evening and enjoying the heat together with George and Polly. The shower has hot water all the time, which is something that isn't always the case in Ireland, based on my personal experience. Since he owns the surrounding area, you are able to enjoy relaxing strolls in the beautiful surroundings.
I would help busy, busy George with various tasks such as feeding the cattle, painting, cleaning, clearing leaves, carrying firewood, walking Polly, etc. Even though George keeps you busy, all the tasks are very doable and he always encourages you to take a break when you need/want one. Some tasks may seem tedious but it is good to know that George gives you work that is genuinely necessary and in the end, he is very grateful for your help. Knowing that you're working on a task that matters and genuinely benefits someone instead of just doing random work is undoubtedly a very nice feeling. When George is away for work, you have the freedom to complete duties whenever it suits you and he always keeps you updated about his plans. Otherwise, you will certainly do some work together. On the one hand, George is the definition of a night-owl so it can occasionally be a little late when you’re working together but on the other hand, you can slowly start into the new day without any rush. In order to give you additional opportunities to experience Ireland and its towns, he also invites you to accompany him to new places or to drop you off in town when he has business to do.

Another thing I want to mention here is how comfortable George made me feel. What I'm really missing are my daily conversations with George. George listens to you, takes an interest in you and your personal affairs, and is well-versed in a variety of subjects. He also enjoys sharing his knowledge and taste in music with you. (He also has a great sense of humour 😉 ). Of course, we must also mention Polly. She is the cutest dog ever and loves running around as well as lying by the fire. She might bark a lot but as George told me on the first day:” She is just talking with nature”.

All in all, my stay with George was very nice and enjoyable. The work was manageable and reasonable and you can learn some new skills / try new things at his place you probably won’t at home 😊 Therefore, I would encourage every one of you who’s reading this to lend a hand to busy, busy George!
