  • Description

Hello, I’m Emma! A feline fan, dessert devotee and world wanderer. Currently on sabbatical from my job at home, I am keen to give something back to the places I visit while learning about their unique culture.

I grew up in the suburbs of South London, but I’m not really much of a city girl! I much prefer the sound of birds singing to the sound of traffic, and to be surrounded by fields rather than buildings. Luckily for me, my parents are the same, and often took us kids (all four of us!) on trips to wilder parts of the UK.

As a lover of nature and wildlife, I try to lead a sustainable life as much as I can. With so much to learn, I’m excited for any opportunity that will enhance my knowledge and skills to have a more positive impact on the planet.

As well as seeking out sweet treats wherever I go, I am an avid baker and have previously competed in cake decorating competitions. Baking kept me busy during lockdown, along with starting a garden and discovering the rewards of growing plants from seed to admire or eat! I also spend my free time singing in a choir and volunteering for Age UK, a charity who support elderly people. The lady I became a ‘Befriender’ to is now one of my closest friends. Oh, and I occasionally do pet/house sitting for people while they are away through a platform called Cat in a Flat.

If you are kind enough to host me in your home, I hope I can demonstrate what it means to be a gracious guest. I love to chat over a cup of tea (or anytime!) and find a good board game can always bring people together.

Thank you for reading and I hope to meet you very soon.

  • More details about your skills

Summary: Cleaning, planning/organisation, baking, design, writing, teaching (children), gardening, cat sitting.

I have a creative background, having studied art at University. I’ve used this in my job to design documents for clients and also in my personal life with my cake creations.

Writing is another important tool in my skillset (it’s even in my job title!), and my peers often come to me when they want something proofread and edited. I’m also known for being meticulous and thorough, which helps with all kinds of planning and research.

I love the satisfaction of a good clean and have even had friends recruit me to help them tidy their messy rooms in the past!

Previously I’ve taught English as a second language to kindergarten and primary school children while living in South Korea. Being a teacher challenged me to entertain young kids and make learning fun!

I am a beginner gardener but eager to learn lots more. I have experimented with the no dig method on my veggie patch at home!

I do love a crossword or a word game! Numbers are not my strong point, but I’ll do a sudoku puzzle in a pinch.
