  • Description

    Hey!
I’m Daniel, a lover of travel, language, culture, and volunteering. My past travels have taken me everywhere from language study in Kazakhstan, to couchsurfing in Vietnam, to humanitarian volunteer work in Ukraine. The common theme in all of these places: the people I met and the experiences we shared. That is why I’m here on Workaway!

This summer I will be moving to Estonia in late August to begin my graduate studies in Anthropology. Until then, I plan to travel around Europe--help in as many projects as I can, share what I have, and learn valuable lessons.

So, about my skills 😁! My strengths are:
-Repair work (Rebuilt destroyed homes in Ukraine--roofing, debris removal)
-Farm work (Worked on wholly organic farm: weeded, packed veggie boxes, completed general farm chores)
-Manual labor (I regularly work out 🏋️, heavy lifting is not a problem!)
-Organization (Excelled in sales management, worked in data organization at a Washington, D.C. thinktank)
-Education (Taught hundreds of families as a tour guide in downtown Washington, D.C. and dozens of school groups as a museum guide)
-Problem solving under stress (From extended back-country camping trips to dangerous warzones, I have developed the ability to keep a cool head and find the best path forward in any circumstance)

I’ll end with a quote about work from my favorite poet, Khalil Gibran:
“You work that you may keep pace with the earth and the soul of the earth. For to be idle is to become a stranger unto the seasons, and to step out of life's procession, that marches in majesty and proud submission towards the infinite.”

    Hope to meet you soon!

More details about my language interests
I am an avid linguist! I studied Russian language and culture in university, and learned a bit of Hebrew growing up. I have a life-long passion for language, and tend to take at least a few phrases with me from every place I've visited. I would be happy to teach Russian or Hebrew, and of course English!
