Description
Our family simply put is addicted to travel, culture, food and history. We backpack every second year to new countries all while doing home stays, hostels, camping (whatever works for where we find ourselves). We encourage our children to try and learn as much of the language as possible while trying all the traditional foods/drinks and festivities. My husband owns his own landscaping company in Canada (over 20 years hardscape and softscape). I own my own interior design firm as well as a wine education/tasting company. I recently finished my level 3 WSET wine education and have been trying to do as much volunteering around viticulture and wine making as possible although not exclusively. Our children alpine ski race in the winters and rock climb, swim and play soccer (football) in our summers. We are all hands on, high energy individuals who love to learn and grow. We have decided this year 6 weeks of backpacking is simply not going to cut it and we would love to find ourselves in a place where we can dig our feet in and become part of the community. We will home school while away (1-2 hours per day or one full day per week, very flexible). Both my husband and I have skills we can use to help with multiple avenues and our children have been raised to help with help is needed.

We all love to learn as much as possible- if we don’t speak your native language we will work while we stay at trying to be as conversational as possible while we integrate into the community we choose. Ryan was in French immersion school from the beginning of his school journey until he graduated at 18 years old. He still has knowledge and beginner amounts, he also taught English in Taiwan for just shy of 4 years in the early 2000’s and on a recent trip to Beijing he was able to help us get by.

Ryans company name and website for more information www.thelandscapingcompany.ca . Ryan went to University of Alberta to obtain his degree in economics, he used his skills to successfully budget, track and run his company. He has taken many courses on landscaping with both bricks, boulders and all kinds of plants.

With education from the Wine and Spirits Trust as well as an interior decorating company from the United States, Terra loves to change who she is constantly, I am always learning new skills (recently I learnt how to spin pottery). If I am not personally growing and learning I feel stuck and bored.

What else ...
Family hobbies- alpine ski, mountain biking, swimming, hikes, dancing, listening to music, working in gardens whether they be food or flowers/plants. We like to play dice and card games as well as cook together and picking food from our garden to make into dinner.
We are outgoing and love to see and do new things, we are looking to simplify and learn while we are away this winter about other cultures and how the day to day life works so that we can grow and adopt anything that we hadn’t thought of in our lives before.
