  • Description

I am a nature lover, adventurer, artist at core, and a people’s person. I am ready to explore new cultures, learn from each experience, and share my own skills and passions along the way. I have zero problems with hard work, as I am no stranger to lending a hand. I’ve dedicated time to charity and volunteer work, and therefore see the value in giving back. I truly do thrive in the company of others, and find joy in the simple act of making new friends. Photography means a lot to me, not just a way of express but a way to connect with people, to tell their stories, and to share the beauty of our world. I will be traveling with my photo and video gear and am happy to create content for social media or websites. I recently became a ski instructor but also love surfing, skating, weightlifting and anything that requires a ball, racket, or club. Ready to learn, happy to help, and inspired to teach, I embark on this Workaway journey with an open heart and mind, and a commitment to making meaningful contributions.

  • More details about your skills

I’ve been fortunate enough to live in four different countries, U.S (Birthplace), Germany (Nationality), China, and England (University). As a result of moving around a lot my education mainly took place at international schools. After completing the International Bachelorette I can say I’ve become even more confident in my English skills, and would gladly teach my mother tongue at beginner to intermediate level, likewise for German. Last year I decided to end my arts & design studies at Central Saint Martins, because I came to the realization that I can’t be in another classroom for 3 years.

I’ve done my fair share of volunteer work, which began with flee market sales in 2018. Where we annually sell used cloths and children toys to raise money for a local children’s hospice. The flee market unfortunately didn’t take place the last two years and therefore I decided this year to sell off some leather camera straps I made and donated all profits. I’ve also volunteered at a food recycling facility for the homeless, where my role was unloading the “expired” heavy crop baskets delivered to us by local supermarkets. I am also a co-founder of a non-profit environmental protection organization that focuses on planting algae for Co2 absorption, although we work hand-in-hand with the researchers my role is creative director and my specialties lie in the media creation to help spread awareness.

In terms of more typical jobs, I worked in the movie industry as a production runner. I was working 10-14 hour days alongside two other female runners. I was assigned a large sprinter to drive that had built in accommodation for the actors. I was under the supervision of a production manager, and was given tasks such as setting up communal areas, keeping actors on schedule, running basic errands, and of course chauffeuring. Although this job was very laborious I enjoyed every minute of it. I‘ll also throw in that I briefly did some event management, throwing party's with around 80-200 people. Not too long ago I briefly worked with a creative studio / media consultancy / advertisement firm to get a more inside perspective of the industry. The last two years I've focused more on my freelance photography alongside my role at our non-profit organization "Sea Habitat".

In terms of wood working skills, I’ve built simple storage boxes all the way up to a table, my bed frame, fences, sheds, and even took part in a patio restoration. I have experience in painting, ranging from furniture, interiors and exteriors, and even the slightest bit of experience in tile installation. During the last two years of my highschool education I was assistant design teacher for two classes in grades right below me. A year ago I began leather crafting, started off by making simple belts, then learned to hand sew, and currently am learning to pattern make. Gardening for me is also a form of therapy, from plucking weeds, trimming back hedges, to planting and cutting trees with my grandpa for fire wood or spears.

Having grown up with tools for toys, I have a passion for absolutely anything hands on, technical, or artistic. At the age of 12, right around the time I began to teach myself photography, I also began sole swapping (taking the soles off two shoes and swapping them). My most successful swap being the football cleats I tore apart to create my newly fused skate shoes; in a way my early introduction to sustainability. Since then I’ve moved onto many different art forms, such as jewelry making, where I learnt to cast metal and precisely use a Dremel. At some point I began sculpting, working with clay, mesh, and wire. Photography and videography is something I’ve been very consistent with, including a on-going interview series with international artists, event photography, and recently exhibiting my Bulgarian photo series at a gallery in Hamburg, Germany.

To sum it all up my greatest skill is learning more skills, along with my organization. I love problem solving, I approach things with an open mind, open to peoples values and traditions. I’m also caring, always trying to show empathy, and respect all forms of life. Most importantly I am disciplined, I know when to work and when to play, meaning I‘m honest and have a strong sense of fairness.
