  • Description

Hi! This Workaway account is shared by two friends, at the moment we travel independently.

I’m Joane, 21 years old from Switzerland, currently traveling solo. I grew up on a farm, so I’m very comfortable around animals and used to hands-on work.

I’m a trained nurse and have already worked in the field, which has taught me a lot about responsibility, empathy, and working with people. After that, I spent a year traveling with my cousin Pascale, and also on my own, where I gained several Workaway experiences along the way.

I’m about to start studying social work, and I really value taking time to travel, step out of my routine, and learn through real life experiences. I love cultural exchange, learning through everyday life, and connecting with people from different backgrounds. I am respectful, motivated, and happy to help where needed, while sharing experiences along the way.

And I’m Julia, also from Switzerland. I will finish my studies this summer to become a teacher/kindergarten teacher and am very excited to start a gap year where I can travel and gain new experiences. I would especially love to improve my Italian while being immersed in everyday life. I’m very interested in different cultures and enjoy connecting with people from all kinds of backgrounds. Besides German and English, I also speak Polish fluently and some French.

I’m a creative person and enjoy working with children, but I’m also happy to help wherever support is needed, whether it’s in the house, garden, or with daily tasks. For me, an honest and respectful way of interacting is very important so that everyone feels comfortable and appreciated.

Together, we are open-minded, reliable, and motivated to contribute positively to your home. We enjoy cultural exchange, learning through everyday life, and sharing experiences with others. 😊

  • More details about your skills

    Joane:
I grew up on a farm, so being around animals and helping out with hands-on work has always been part of my life. I like staying active and just getting things done when needed. My mom has horses and I have been riding and taking care of horses since forever.

I’m a trained nurse, which taught me to stay calm, be responsible, and work well with all kinds of people, both in a team and on my own. I worked on a maternity ward, supporting newborn babies and their parents during their first days together. It was a very special experience that taught me a lot about empathy, responsibility and taking care of babies as well as being around kids (siblings of the babies) .

Through traveling and different Workaway experiences, I’ve learned to adapt quickly and feel comfortable in new environments. I’m easygoing, reliable, and happy to help wherever I can, always bringing a good energy.

    Julia:
Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to gain a wide range of experiences in different fields. I completed a farm placement where I worked both with animals and children, which taught me how to take responsibility, stay flexible, and handle practical tasks independently. I also worked in hospitals as a caregiver and sitter for vulnerable patients, where I learned to be patient, attentive, and calm in challenging situations, while always treating people with respect and empathy.

In addition, I regularly help out on my boyfriend’s farm, where there is always something to do. This has strengthened my hands-on skills, my willingness to work hard, and my ability to adapt to different tasks. Through my training as a teacher, I’ve developed a lot of patience, creativity, and strong communication skills—not only with children but with people in general. I’ve learned how to support others, create a positive environment, and respond to different needs in a calm and understanding way.

Overall, I would describe myself as reliable, adaptable, and motivated. I enjoy learning new things, helping where needed, and being part of a team while contributing with a positive and respectful attitude.
