We are a friendly and reliable couple from the USA and South America who are interested in meeting new people while exploring different parts of the world. The most meaningful travel experiences we have had include learning how people live in different places and cultures, understanding different people's perspectives, and sharing our own to find common ground.

We got tired of living in a place where everyone seemed motivated by money, as money does not bring us meaning or happiness. So we quit our jobs (civil engineer and social worker, respectively) and are now focusing on slow travel with the goal of meeting people from other places, sharing time and space with them, contributing to the global community, and appreciating the natural world around us.

We enjoy hiking, cooking, eating new foods, dancing salsa, tending to plants, house projects and general maintenance, caring for animals (especially dogs and tortoises), and sharing leisurely conversation with new friends over a good meal.

David is a civil engineer with 15 years of construction, carpentry, and design experience. He fully remodeled our home including electrical, plumbing, and new construction work. He loves taking on new projects and thinks up creative solutions. Ashby is a social worker with 15 years of experience focused mostly on survivors of violence and trauma, as well as children in school settings. We have both spent much time overseas working with nonprofit organizations, specifically focused on at-risk youth. David taught math and science to children and teens and Ashby taught English to youth and created workshops for parents.

What else ...

We are big soccer/football fans and will happily watch a match, even if one of our favorite teams isn't playing. We enjoy playing card games and board games, as well as learning new ones and teaching our favorites to new friends. If you have a dog, we will try to be their best friend.
