  • Description

This profile is for both my wife and I, but I am currently the only one of us in Costa Rica looking for workaways. My wife is back in Denver taking care of our children while I am building connections and finding a way for us to move out of the states. I miss Jade and Emelie tremendously, but I have to make this sacrifice now in order to accomplish our goals.

Jade and I have been together since October 2021, and we recently welcomed our daughter Emelie into this world in April. We are a blended family, since she has a four-year-old daughter, Mina, from a previous relationship. It is our number one priority in life for us to find a community to grow our family that is in harmony with the rest of nature. Our search has led us to Costa Rica because of the vast number of communities who seem to have values directly in line with our own.

  • More details about your skills

Most recently I was a sous chef working 60 hour work weeks at an asian restaurant in Denver. I’m familiar with a wide range of cuisines though, and I know how to run a kitchen. I’m also a tattoo artist. I currently only have equipment to do line work in black ink, but I will be getting the rest of my equipment and inks as as soon as possible. Additionally, I have experience in pretty much all aspects of non commercial construction with the majority of it being in carpentry (from rough to finish, framing and cabinetry) as well as basic electric, plumbing, and foundation repair. I’m familiar with large crop farming as well as small gardens but mostly just the manual labor side. I’ve worked landscaping, ditch digging, irrigation systems, and brush clearing. I'm no stranger to the hospitality industry either. I have over 3 years experience as a bartender and server as well. I am an experienced mycologist though my knowledge base with plants in general has much room for growth. I have roughly a year of professional kitchen experience on top of a lifetime of cooking for pleasure. I’m a singer, (new) musician, painter and tattoo artist as well as a writer of songs and poetry. I’ve played all the sports and didn’t quit rugby til I was 32, so I can entertain kids of all ages. I can teach English, literature, philosophy, the sciences, and math up to calculus. This list may sound ridiculous, but I’ve always been broke and always loved learning. As I’ve trudged my way through life I’ve picked up a lot and made a point of retaining it.

Jade has a background in permaculture, gardening, and ethnobotany. She has taken courses in postpartum care and has years of experience as a single mother. This means she also knows her way around a kitchen and conflict mitigation. A passion for plants as medicine has led her to an expanded knowledge of herbs and their uses as well as identifying various plant species. She is a talented artist and decorator as well as a much better singer than I am. She’s the most well educated person I know in astrology and gives intuitive and insightful readings.
