Hello! We are Annabelle and Martha (19,) good friends living in Bradford (UK) and taking a gap year together. We've known each other since primary school, and we're now preparing to travel around Europe together. This will be our first workaway experience, however we have wwoofed (helped on organic homestead) once before- which we loved!
About us:
--------------
-Hi I'm Annabelle. Next year I'm studying Environmental Science in Edinburgh, but in the meantime I'm want to learn about our natural world through experiencing it! I am a conscientious and quite idealistic person and I'm really passionate about conserving the planet. I love to sing and tap dance as well as going foraging in the forest. I'm also interested in how we can farm using natural systems, my dream is to have my own permaculture food forest. That's what led me to workaway.
-Hi I'm Martha. I am a very dedicated and responsible person who loves animals, especially dogs. In the future, I'd really love a job that's out and about, perhaps the navy, or in an animal shelter. I really enjoy working with dogs and training them. I own a dog myself called Ted, and I walk my neighbour dogs for some extra money. I also love to play badminton. I know workaway will be hard work but I am going to get stuck in and help as much as I can.
At the moment, we work together at a supermarket, so we are used to long working hours, hard work and heavy loads.
Experience:
------------------
In September we spent 10 days volunteering in Ireland on an organic homestead through Wwoof. We fed and mucked out the chickens, rabbits and donkeys, and in the garden we did mulching, raking and harvesting. We've added our review below:
"We had a very pleasant time hosting Annabelle and Martha. They were so good, working with us when we had a water problem, showing good grace and fortitude in helping us to deal with it and wait for normal supply to resume. The animals loved them. It was good to engage with their interest in treating our animals holistically, and also exploring herbs and plants used to support health. We wish them both the best time in their forthcoming travel adventures, and a successful time at Uni next year too."Interests
