Hey there! My name is Anna, I'm originally from the state of Minnesota but am currently living in Arizona. I have a degree in and a passion for filmmaking and absolutely love travel photography and art. Meeting like-minded people from different backgrounds makes my heart happy and I absolutely love connecting with others from around the globe. I hope to one day share stories and open people's minds through my films!
One of my absolute favorite destinations is Iceland, and I love spending time in hostels getting to know people and making lifelong connections! I cannot wait to explore more and more places and meet more and more people!

I am enthusiastic about most any task and am not afraid of hard work! I have experience with farm work, gardening, house cleaning/keeping, animal handling, art, filmmaking and photography as well as house and pet sitting! I have over 18 years of experience working with horses and recently spent a few months in Iceland breaking in and training Icelandic horses.
I've tutored English as a second language before as well as worked as a personal assistant.
What I am not familiar with, I am eager and willing to learn and am excited to expand my knowledge and abilities through Workaway!

i cannot express how much i love this place! this was not only my first experience doing a workaway, but also really my first venture internationally! if this is also you, choose this place without hesitation! everyone is so lovely, inviting, hard-working, and fun!! i went on this trip with my friend Anna, and all around we had an amazing and… read more unforgettable experience!!

- you stay in your very own caravan (which are unbelievably cozy!!)
- you are able to help make and have dinners with the family (who are all absolutely lovely and the food is always delicious!!)
- you are able to share your own recipes with the family- it’s kind of tradition!!
- the work mostly consists of cleaning the caravans, checking guests in, doing laundry, and cleaning the common rooms (all of which are not difficult and you are taught how to do so no worries!!)
- there are lovely horses and donkeys to go and see on the daily!!
- on your free time you can do whatever you’d like!! we liked to read, go on walks (highly recommend!!), write post cards, and more!
- Neasa and Alan are more than willing to bring you out on little adventures into town on your days off!! this is a great opportunity to go see the area and do some shopping if you’d like!
there is so much more i wish to express about the place, people, and animals that i cannot even put into words. this was an unforgettable experience and i’m definitely coming back!!

Neasa and Alan’s home was an absolute gem of a find here on Workaway! My friend Amelia and I were welcomed to the farm with open arms by the entire family. The work is fun yet simple, and there’s more than enough time to walk around the beautiful surroundings, explore the winding roads and forest trails or make friends with one of the many friendly horses by carrot or fistful of grass. Speaking of which, there are plenty of critters on the farm from horses to donkeys, dogs and cats. You can make yourself delicious breakfast and lunches with the fresh ingredients bought for you, and you can choose to partake in dinners with the family, which always includes good conversation and perhaps a “beverage” included as well.

You have plenty of free time to spend however you like outside of your working hours, but often on your days off Neasa and Alan are kind enough to drop you off in town for the day. This lets you see a bit more of Ireland and explore outside of the farm. You can walk the streets of Wicklow and have a coffee at the sea or explore Glendalough and its world famous Monastic Site which includes The Round Tower as well as other historic sites and lovely seemingly endless walking trails surrounding the lakes.

At the end of a day of work on the farm a warm shower, jovial dinner with the family and curling up under some cozy blankets in your own private caravan, lit by gas-light feels so perfectly like home. The people and animals are lovely, the country is beautiful and you won’t want to leave. But once you do, you’ll be keen to plan a return trip. :)
