  • Description

    Hey! :)
I´m Alicia from Germany, 26 years young.
I´m currently finished my masters degree in psychology and now would like to take a deep breath before I´m going to start working (sometime). I love spending time in nature along with animals (dogs are most preferred). Hiking is one of my favourite activities at the moment along with making music (piano, guitar, singing or accompaniying Nils with a rattle or Xylophono :D), practicing yoga and meditation and dancing.

Why I´d like to get involved in workaway:
    - get to know new countrys along with its landscape, culture and people
    - improve my English and Spanish, and maybe learn some new languages? :)
    - work with dogs (my dream would be a husky/sled dog farm) and animals in general
    - socializing
    - retreat and find myself, spiritual exchange, practicing yoga and meditation together
    - expand my knowledge in building, gardening and related work
    - get involved in a sustainability project
    - make a pause from the everyday live and big city stressors (so kind of lonely places with beautiful nature are preferred)

I did a trip to Thailand last year, which inspired me for further traveling. I don´t like overcrowded touristic places so we explored lonely islands of Thailand were there was no electricity or water supply. I really loved the big National Parks, too. In spring 2019 I went to Sweden, Nordmarken for 2 weeks only with a canoe, tent, map and some food. It was an adventurous experience, but I got to love the Scandinavian landscape so much. I really wouldnt mind travelling there again, especially in winter.

    Hi,
I'm Nils from germany, I'm 27 years old and live in Hanover, a City of 500k citizens. I grew up in a nature-near home with a small forest and brook next door. Since then I love the nature, wide landscapes, mountains, forests, rivers and all kind of animals. That's also why I live vegan for almost 7 years now. I studied environmental engineering / renewable energies and am currently working for a small company creating roof-integrated photovoltaiks. For our current Trip around Spain, Portugal and most likely Chile and Columbia I managed to reduce my worktime to 15h/week all remote, so I guess I'm a digital nomad now...
I'm a musician from head to toes, playing electric guitar in a band in germany and brought my acustic guitar, a harp, and a small rattle eventho we have VERY limited space in our car :D I'm also currently trying to improve my singing.

For my workaway I'm looking forward to:
    - get in touch with different people to get to know new opinions, new points of view as well as new languages (spanish in first place)
    - learn new skills about building/constructing, farming, harvesting, as well as taking care of animals or reserving natural grounds
    - learn to live more within the nature and to get rid of my luxery expectations
    - maybe learn how to surf, hence i love skating :)

Helping to create an off-grid fully autonomous home/farm/retreat would be one of my most favorite tasks as a workawayer. I dont mind digging around in dirt or having no flowing water.
I am inspired by open minds and sharing people, i dont like capitalistic or selfish mindsets.

We are a couple since December 2022.

We are independent workers and don´t hide if hard work has to be done.
Even though we can be a bit shy in the beginning, we both are good listeners and very fast learners.

Alicias biggest strength is definitely the work with dogs! She really loves them and already invested much lifetime in learning about dog behavior, education, food and character. Since she was a child she wanted to own one, but her parents were against it at first. That wasn´t an obstacle for her, she had several foster dogs until she finally conviced her parents to buy her one. Now they share their lives with an Australian Shepherd named Hurley. And who would have ever thought: They couldnt miss him anymore!
Alicia's thinking about becoming a trainer for guide dogs.

Furthermore, she's very sporty and has no physical restricitions that would speak against a lot of work ;)

Nils is very musical and loves to try any instrument he gets in hand. He also has good knowledge about physics and technical topics and is able to comprehend new issues very quickly.

Even though we appreciate our company as a couple very much, we don't mind working on different projects and not spending the whole day together. We don't need to do everything as a couple and respect that we dont share every single interest with each other.

  • What else ...

Nils likes playing card and board games, listening to music and audiobooks, writing, and engaging in good, deep conversations.

Alicia just started to play the guitar, so she's open to learn some new guitar skills and other instruments as well. Singing is also something I really enjoy.
