Description
Hi! My name is Alice, but most people call me Aya (in Czech, that’s Ája). I’ve always had a head full of plans, visions, and dreams—but somewhere along the way, they scattered. After a few years at university, I decided to hit pause and head out into the world.
As for my gap year? I’ve come up with a highly “advanced” plan (read: beautifully simple) to stay as close to the ocean as possible. I’m from the Czech Republic—a landlocked country—but I’ve always felt drawn to the endless blue horizon.
I dream of spending so much time by the sea that even my clumsy English will eventually pick up words like navy blue, cerulean, azure, and turquoise—just so I can argue with someone, as if it truly mattered, about which shade the waves are today.

I have completed three years of law studies at university. I speak English and am currently learning German. I gained practical experience during an internship at a court and now work remotely for a company that processes laws for digital legal databases.
I have experience tutoring children and am a scout leader, organizing camps and activities. I have also worked in a bistro and on a mountain hut. I have supported a student theater production as a production assistant.
In the past, I participated twice in Workaway (with a partner, on a different profile), helping in a hostel in Ireland and on a farm in Germany.
I enjoy art and creativity, and I consider myself communicative and eager to learn and contribute.

I want to try walking a highline and learn more about the life of horses. I’d love to get experience working as a runner on a film set. I’m also interested in volunteering on projects related to human rights and environmental protection.
