Travelling
My next destination:
Maine, United States - from Apr 2024 until Oct 2024 View allDescription
In January 2022, I took a chance and embarked on a Workaway to Alaska. I had planned on just a few months, but became hooked on adventure and spent nine months in the state, working in Anchorage and Denali. I am now in year three of traveling through work exchanges or seasonal jobs. So far, I have lived and worked in Alaska, Peru, Pennsylvania, and currently, Norway. Next up is Acadia National Park! Throughout my travels, I have been fortunate to see amazing things and meet wonderful people. There are wonderful and interesting people and cultures everywhere, and I want to continue exploring and learning. My next goal is to travel internationally. I am vaccinated against COVID-19 and eager to continue exploring the world. I am flexible on locations and length; let's talk about it!
I received my Bachelor's degree in psychology, and hope to eventually go back to school for speech-language pathology. I have three years of experience with behavioral and developmental disorders, as well as varied experience in administrative and educational work. I would love to chat with you regarding my experiences and skills and any opportunities you have.Interests

I also studied basic Spanish in Peru (y quiero apprender mas!). I have no formal training in teaching English; however, I am willing to be a conversation partner and teach what I can!Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

1. Working with children/adolescents
I have worked with children/adolescents in some capacity for approximately nine years. I have taught children/adolescents with developmental and behavior disorders as well as those without diagnoses. Most recently, I worked as an assistant teacher for a bilingual school in Peru in fall 2022. I care deeply about this type of work and attempt to stay up-to-date on research and advocacy.
2. Caregiving
I have paid and unpaid experience taking care of older and disabled people by doing laundry, providing baths/showers, cooking and serving meals, etc. I treat every individual with dignity and work efficiently. My most recent experiences occurred at a group home in Pennsylvania in the spring of 2023.
3. Administrative work
I have experience in managing cash, monitoring timecards, employee/vendor communication, and more. Most recently, in the summer of 2023, I worked as an accountant in Glacier National Park. I pay attention to detail and communicate effectively.
I am a quick and willing learner. Even if I do not have specific experience in an area of work you need, I will do my best to learn. For example, during my three months in Pennsylvania, I learned to use a loom, prune fruit trees, and operate a log splitter.Age

-Animals, especially dogs.
-Hiking, biking, kayaking, and paddle-boarding (not particularly skilled at paddle-boarding, but I have fun!)
-Snow. I am from Texas, United States, and get really excited about cold weather! I especially enjoy sledding and want to learn how to ski.
