    Description

We are now actively looking for help, couples and singles welcome. If you love the outdoors you will love the freedom of the countryside to roam, and, of course! The varied and interesting Work.

At the moment we need help with re-decorating our house, some small electrical jobs and plumbing. Lots of interesting carpentry and In addition we have a large forest to manage and I want to landscape our present garden (hard and soft landscaping). If you fit the bill, give us a look see.

Back at home - Two big projects in '24. A long term project that is pencilled in is I am going to build an off grid ECO house coming spring, summer and winter 2024) All people with practical skills or helpful curiosity will be welcome.

Second project is to build a 5m x 4m plunge pool with terrace in the garden with superb wooden hard landscaping. We have the forest, we have the trees and the sawmill, we have the Architect (me) we just need you !!

ABOUT US...., we are birdwatchers and all round nature lovers, we have creatures large and small just walking past the door here. At the moment the stags are rutting all around us and the noise at night is simply amazing. They really do get het up and they sound just like bears. I swear one night (Oct/23) we had a stag possibly no more than 20 metres from the house announcing himself in no uncertain terms that he had the biggest.......(Antlers)............in the woods.
Where we live is a national park and beautifulI, we speak French and English at a high level. We live sustainably here believing that good honestly sourced food is the first building block of life, the mountain air is pure as is our water. We are trying to improve the house and land. Ideally a good forward looking attitude is ideal to enjoy the experience as is punctuality. We have dogs and a cat (Taliban), log fires and Internet.
Volunteers coming here are part of the family, we work together, we eat together which is socially very important to us.
If you want to get fit and be amazed at just how beautiful this part of France is, this is the place for you!
Craftspeople, skilled and semi skilled or just very keen to learn a lot, can you operate a strimmer or chainsaw? We need you now before the weeds start again!

MECHANIC (car or diesel) urgently wanted. I need to change the engine on our 2.5 ton excavator (easy peasy).

We live in bucolic paradise, a beautiful area with everything a person could want from an outdoorsy mountainous location. Happy to pass on my skills when appropriate and happy to share my language skills. In the past my house has had people from all walks of life and all countries. Many hundreds of kilometres are Local trails with direct access to mountains and fabulous hiking and camping in your free time. Wonderful historic towns and castles are all around us to visit as are Toulouse, Carcassonne and Barcelona for weekends. The Med is 1hr 1/2 away. Two Skiing resorts are 1hr away, good public transport available from Foix.

We have a large house with a large garden and pool(summer only). The (Eco) house was designed and built by us and is carbon neutral. All the stone came from the hillside and the wood from our own trees, we felled the trees, milled the lumber and built the house. In addition we have quite a lot of (agricultural) and forest land . We burn wood here as a heating fuel and help would be appreciated with logging and firewood collection etc. If you have a practical skill eg. carpentry, masonry or have general building skills or are simply someone with ambitions, you can be sure we will find good use for you here.
    Artists (murals) also very welcome
It is important to me that people coming here are made to feel welcome and a part of the family.
Sorry but we do not offer paid employment as part of the Workaway experience.
