  Description

  We are Richard and Chitra, a British couple living in France for the last 8 years, with our two children, Lily (14) and Jude (7). We live in a lovely village near the Canal du Midi (a UNESCO world heritage site) in the Aude about an hour away from the Spanish border. Our closest city in Narbonne. Richard and I run a property business and I also run Asian cookery courses and a Curry Club. So any workawayer can expect great homecooking! In the summer we rent out our house for a month, whilst we go on holiday, and we are therefore looking for people who can help us get our home ready for the summer rentals.

  We are hoping to repaint our house before the next rentals. Due to the size of the house, we will need help with this. Also, with general household maintenance as neither of us is very good with that sort of thing, so someone with d-i-y skills would be great! The garden is about 500m2 and is a 'work-in-progress'. We would especially like someone with horticultural knowledge, especially of mediterranean plants, and an interest in garden landscaping. Ideally, we would like a couple or young women. We are looking for help in June and July.

  Accommodation

  2 double bedrooms, each with ensuite facilities. The guest wing is set apart from our family accomodation but is still be very much part of house. The house is called L'ecurie, which means stables in French. The house was converted about 5 years ago into a very stylish and modern home, but still retains some beautiful original features. We have a large open plan living room/kitchen which opens onto the garden and pool terraces, with an 11m x 6m infinity pool. The house is very spacious and comfortable, with all modern conveniences.

  What else ...

  Our village in on the banks of the River Aude and the Canal du Midi is about a 10 minute's walk. We are about 15 minutes from the city of Narbonne, which is a lovely bourgeois french city, with the Canal du Midi running through it. There is a regular bus service from the village to the city. Narbonne has a large railway station with trains to Spain in the south (about 3 hours to Barcelona), Toulouse in the west (about 2 hours) and Montpellier to the east (about 1 hour). The area is truly gorgeous in the spring/summer months with lots happening in the surrounding villages. The Canal du Midi is magical and there are plenty of walks and bicycle rides to be had. This is primarily a wine producing region and we are surrounded by vineyards in all directions. The food and wine is second to none!!

  We have a fully set up office as we run our business from home. We have good fibre optic internet access . As I usually only work in the office in the mornings, the office is free in the afternoons.

  Lovely 9 years old wire fox terrier who has been with us for over a year . He was abandoned in Spain and lived for over 2 years in a kennel there before we fostered him last year.
