  • Description

We are an equine charity on the tropical island of Gili Trawangan in Indonesia. The Gili Islands are a top tourism destination in S.E. Asia and do not allow motorized vehicle. All transportation is dove using horses, bicycles, or your own two feet.

Our charity provides education, veterinary care, equipment, supplies, and support for the working horses and ponies. We also run an active rescue and rehabilitation program and offer lessons for free to local children.

We are 100% not for profit and rely on donations and volunteers to continue our work.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Since we are located in Indonesia and in a setting without motorized vehicles this is a unique opportunity to see how culturally different the people from Lombok and the Gili Islands are. We work closely with the local government and interact daily with people of different cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds. We provide a lot of hands on opportunities to work with local children as well.

  • Help

We would welcome volunteers to assist with grooming, bathing, exercising, fixing fences, picking up trash on property, treatments, veterinary care, hoof care, training, and offering lessons.

We generally have between 25 and 30 horses at any one time and often help with clinics and other projects treating locally owned working horses and ponies.

We take the ponies out to the beach socializing every morning at 7 30 am - 8 30 am
    Every afternoon routine starts from 3 30pm - 5 00 pm
WEEKEND morning routine 9 30 pm- 11 30pm *afternoon same time

The Gili islands are located between Lombok and Bali and can be easily reached by flying into either airport and taking a fast boat to the islands. Most countries can now get a visa on arrival for 30 days for $35 usd which can be extended for an additional 30 days. Other types of visas are available for longer stays.

There are a number of restaurants on Gili Trawangan as well as an active nightlife. The close proximity to Bali and Lombok makes it easy to explore other areas and visit sites such as temples, go on hikes, and of course scuba diving and snorkeling.

Our accommodation is located on the northern side of the island inside a dove resort. We kindly request no loud parties or drugs. Drinking is accepted but drunkenness is not. Our area is safe from theft and other issues.

We have been living here since 2014 and founded charity in 2015. Many past volunteers have become lifelong friends.
