Description
Hello and welcome! 😊
My name is Dee, and I am an English Communication Trainer at SSCI International Hospitality College & Management in Klaten, Central Java, Indonesia.
Teaching is not just my profession—it is my passion. I strongly believe that education can transform lives, and my mission is to help young Indonesians develop the English communication skills they need to pursue international careers in the hospitality and cruise industries.
I am inspired by the philosophy:
"Think Globally, Act Locally."
By connecting our students with volunteers from around the world, we create meaningful cultural exchange while helping them become more confident global citizens.
Why We Welcome Volunteers
We truly value the Workaway community because it brings people together beyond borders, cultures, and languages.
Hosting volunteers allows our students to experience authentic English conversations, learn about different cultures, and gain confidence communicating with people from around the world. At the same time, volunteers have the opportunity to experience Indonesian hospitality, local traditions, and daily life from an authentic perspective.
We believe that the best learning happens when people learn with one another—not just from one another.
Volunteer as an English Conversation Partner
Our students are preparing for careers in international hotels and cruise ships. While they study English every day, many of them have limited opportunities to communicate with native or fluent English speakers.
As a volunteer, you can help by:
Leading conversational English sessions.
Encouraging students to speak with confidence.
Sharing your culture and international experiences.
Participating in classroom discussions and interactive activities.
Inspiring students to achieve their dreams of working internationally.
No formal teaching qualification is required. If you enjoy meeting people, communicating in English, and encouraging others, your presence can make a real difference.
A Meaningful Cultural Exchange
Although we may come from different countries, speak different languages, and have different traditions, we believe we all share the same humanity.
During your stay, you'll have the opportunity to:
Build genuine friendships with local students and staff.
Experience Indonesian culture from a local perspective.
Enjoy home-cooked Indonesian meals.
Join school activities and community events.
Learn as much from us as we learn from you.
Volunteering at SSCI is not only about teaching—it is about connecting, sharing, growing, and creating lasting memories together.
Discover Klaten, Central Java
Our school is located in Klaten, a peaceful town in Central Java, strategically situated between Yogyakarta and Solo (Surakarta).
This location offers easy access to some of Indonesia's most iconic destinations, including:
Prambanan Temple
Borobudur Temple
Plaosan Temple
Parangtritis Beach
Mount Merapi
Traditional villages, local markets, and beautiful rice fields
Whether you enjoy history, nature, culture, or local cuisine, Central Java has something special to offer.
Join Our Journey
We are looking for enthusiastic, open-minded, and compassionate volunteers who are excited to share their knowledge, experiences, culture, and positive energy with our students.
Your contribution—whether through conversation, encouragement, or simply being present—can inspire young people to believe in themselves and prepare for opportunities around the world.
If you are planning to visit Indonesia, especially Central Java, we would be delighted to welcome you to our school.

Accommodation
Accommodation/Homestay
1).Guests will stay in our school and It is comfortable enough, but you can also stay in my own house or local family who lives in their family home. Living with local families is an excellent experience that exposes guests to the real everyday life in Indonesia as they interact with the other residents, engage in the everyday activities of an Indonesian family, and even have the opportunity to learn a bit of Bahasa Indonesia and the Central Javanese language. Needless to say, the homestay alone is worth the experience!
2).We could provide food for guest but you can also have your own option to get food by yourself. -
What else ...
We have five days working.
After doing a volunteer project a few hours in a day, normally we usually take our guest to the tourist attraction, such as:
a. Prambanan Temple, It is the highest Hindhu temple in Indonesia.
b. Plaosan temple. It is the combination between hindhu and budha culture temple.
c. Floating restaurant, you can enjoy a great view while you have fishing and eat there.
d. Umbul Ponggok swimming pool, you can both swim and do snorkeling
