    Description

    Hejsan!

We are Olivia (Swedish American), Stefan (Swedish from Skåne) and Nisse (Ragdoll from LA), Our place is a small archipelago house, 50 minutes outside of Stockholm, right in the beginning of the archipelago in the Baltic Sea

We'd love you to help us with:
    - Removing piles of cut down bushes.
    - Cleaning weeds in garden
    - Planting and watering flowers
    _Painting parts of the house

    About us:
We work as Actress and Singer (Olivia) and Chiropractor, Naprapath, Acupuncturist (Stefan) We´ve lived in this adorable house, that was built in 1935 in the small village "Björnhuvud" by the sea, for two years. The village appears in the Swedish TV- series "Skärgårdsdoktorn". We both love where where we live and have many friends in the area. We like to cook good, healthy food (vegetarian for example) and have nice dinners with friends. The house is small (100 square metres) The guest room is on the second floor overlooking the woods and the mountain behind us. Our cat Nisse, is an antiallergenic cat and really sweet. The beautiful city of Stockholmis is just 50 min away, and we can drive you or put you/ pick you up from the train or bus. The area is very relaxed and country like. It´s so quiet out there, there are some sweet antique places and a few lovely cafe´s, many nature walks and just a walk down to the water. Take your pick, a mini beach or a deck, where you can sitt and read or take a swim. The stable is close by if you like riding. Many boats go from around here and Stockholm, out into the archipelago with thousands of island.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Sweden is a mixture of a supermodern society and an old peasant country tradition that still is alive in the music, food and art. Our cultural traditions are still very strong, as well as our cultural heritage and attitudes. We have a long tradition of beautiful craftsmanship, Handycraft and Artwork and Stockholm is packed with museums. The Swedish food nowadays is a mix of supermodern cuisine and the traditional. I recommend visiting our old beautiful castle, where you can have afternoon Tea or take a Spa treatment. If you come during the Summer or early autumn you´ll experience some of our old traditional celebrations such as: Midsommar, Kräftskiva and 1:a maj. Out here, in the archipelago, there´s yet another aspect of the culture- with the fishing, the old archipelago lifestyle from the 1800s, when people took the boats out to their Summer house in the islands over the weekend. the boats are still running all over the archipelago. On them you can eat Swedish traditional "smörgåsbord", dance and listen to Jazzbands or modern Swedish artists. The boats are still fired up by young men throwing in coal into the fire.

Looking for practical people with gardens/ watering/ removing weeds/ painting house- experience or interest, who enjoy physical work and being outdoors. Great but not necessary with carpenter and building experience. You should be fairly independent and comfortable and also like to eat and perhaps even cook good, sometimes healthy, vegetarian food.

    Accommodation

We offer food & accommodation, in fantastic surroundings, in exchange for 25 hours help per week. The bedroom is small, quiet and overlooks the woods and the mountain behind us. The bathroom/washroom is downstairs. The food is home-cooked with local produces. As you'll live as a part of our family, it is appreciated if you sometimes participate in the daily light cleaning and washing up.

We have wi-fi, free international phone calls, can offer you a bicycle to get around. We have a car and often drive into Stockholm if you want to come along. We are 50 minutes from central Stockholm, and 30 minutes away from Norrtälje, , a sweet archipelago town along the water, with beautiful, old houses, many shops, cafés and a great farmer's market.

We hope to meet you very soon,
    Vänliga hälsningar!
