Description
*** Sorry, for our very low reply rate - we could do with a "workawayer" just to reply to the messages... ;) ***
Hei, here is Monica and Mario
During the pandemic our life changed radically and we are now living in the beautiful island of Skrova, most known as Lofoten's Little Hawaii!!
Monica is from Portugal, 33 years old and Mario from USA (half Norwegian/Sicilian....) 31 years old.
The atmosphere on the island is very relaxed and friendly!
We like to go for walks, spend time in nature, eat some nice food (Mario is a great cook) and have some chats with a glass of red wine (preference under the shy Norwegian Sun ;)
We have various projects going on:
- The main project at the moment is a big house with 5 apartments which is the workawayers house, right by the sea. Its a big space in need to became prettier ;) All the house is from the 90's, so the goal is to make it more confortable, original, hopefully some cool furniture, etc
- Small tasks around the house, like clean terrace, housekeeping, painting stuff
Most projects are cleaning, painting, small renovation, sanding, DYI projects, gardening, etc
We give preference to longer stays, at least 4 weeks and to 2 friends or a couple travelling together, however at this moment with the new house we are accepting many volunteers.
Depending of your goal and expectations we can offer different type of schedules.
We offer free accommodation and food in exchange for 25 hours of work per week (the schedule can be flexible to suit your proferences).
Notice, the help is un-related to our rental business.
IMPORTANT
*Please remember that workawayer must be responsible to ensure you have the correct visa, work permits and keep update with the constant corona rules changes.Types of help and learning opportunities
Art Projects
Language practice
Gardening
DIY and building projects
Creating/ Cooking family meals
Help around the house
General Maintenance
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Skrova is really a great place to be and so many who come for a visit, end up moving here for a while. With just about 200 inhabitants the locals are friendly and you get to experience a very genuine island atmosphere in the Brygga.
Despite being a small community, there are at least 15 different nationalities. You will have opportunity to learn about local culture, practice different languages and join local initiatives.
Skrova is known as Lofoten's little Hawaii, due to our beautiful white sandy beaches and turquoise water. Perfect for kayaking and water activities.
We like to go for nature activities, go for a walk, picnics on the beach, a swim in the sea, boat trip, midnight sun fishing ;) ;)
We love to travel and meet new people, since lately travelling has been impossible for us, we are looking forward to have new faces around, share new stories and experiences!Help

I've done plenty of workaways during my 20's and always looked forward for the day l would have my own project and the opportunity to share this experience from the other side. Hopefully l will offer as many good experiences as l had in the past ❤️
