  Description

  We live on the Uruguayan coast, in Punta Rubia. In a peaceful place surrounded by nature. At home, we work, cultivate food and medicinal plants, and make fermented products and other goods.
  We live surrounded by animals that we respect and protect. We are vegetarians and hope to share our space with people who can adapt. If you are vegetarian, please mention it in your message.
  
  We enjoy sports, games, and spending time with friends.
  Marvin is from France, and I am Venezuelan. We spent several years traveling and volunteering on different nature projects, and now we are opening our home to an exchange, this time as hosts :)
  
  In our space, we are remodeling the houses, cultivating and reforesting the surroundings with native species to attract wildlife and support the natural processes of the area. We also make products such as fermented food, soaps, preserves...
  
  We live in a family home, so there are some specific ways of doing things that we hope our guests will appreciate. For example, we only use biodegradable products since we reuse greywater.
  
  We need help mainly with painting, gardening, cooking, or participating in daily maintenance tasks. The tasks vary, and we all share them so nothing gets tedious for anyone.
  
  We live with dogs who are part of the family; this exchange is only for people who love animals.

  Vivimos en la costa uruguaya, en Punta Rubia. En un lugar tranquilo rodeado de naturaleza. En casa trabajamos, cultivamos alimentos y plantas medicinales, elaboramos fermentos y otros productos.
  Vivimos rodeados de animales a los que respetamos y protegemos, somos vegetarianos y esperamos compartir nuestro espacio con personas que puedan adaptarse. Si eres vegetarian@ por favor mencionalo en tu mensaje.
  Nos gustan los deportes, juegos y compartir con amigos.
  Marvin es de Francia y yo soy venezolana. Estuvimos varios años viajando y voluntariando en diferentes proyectos en la naturaleza, y ahora abrimos las puertas de nuestras casa al intercambio, esta vez siendo nosotros los anfitriones :)
  
  En nuestro espacio estamos remodelando las casas, cultivando y reforestando los alrededores con especies nativas, para atraer la fauna y favorecer los procesos naturales del lugar. También elaboramos productos como fermentos, tinturas, jabones, conservas, y muchas cosas más.
  Vivimos en una casa familiar, diferente a un Hostel, por lo que hay formas especiales de hacer las cosas que esperamos que nuestros invitados puedan considerar. Por ejemplo solo usamos productos biodegradables ya que reusamos las aguas grises.
  
  Necesitamos ayuda principalmente pintando, trabajando en la huerta, cocinando o participando en las tareas cotidianas del mantenimiento del lugar. Las tareas varían, y entre todos las compartimos, así no se vuelve tedioso para nadie.
  
  Vivimos con perros que son parte de la familia, este intercambio es solo para personas que le gustan los animales.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  We love cultural exchange, language exchange, and exploring different cuisines. At home, we teach how to make the natural products we use, such as soap, detergents, ferments, medicines... We offer some basic ingredients for breakfast, and we cook the lunches together on the working days (usually Monday-Friday). It's important to note that ours is a vegetarian household :)

  Nos encanta el intercambio cultural, de idiomas, de gastronomía. En casa enseñamos a elaborar los productos naturales que usamos, jabón, detergentes, fermentos, medicinas...
  Los días de intercambio (L-V) ofrecemos ingredientes básicos para el desayuno, y cocinamos los almuerzos en conjunto. Es muy importante considerar que es una casa vegetariana :)

  Help

  We would appreciate the help of travelers with experience in gardening, carpentry, general household maintenance. Another possible activity is the preparation of vegetarian foods and pet caring.
  We also produce ferments and other natural medicines using the plants and mushrooms we harvest.

  Otra actividad posible es elaboración de alimentos, siempre vegetarianos y el cuidado de los animales de casa.
  También elaboramos fermentos y otras medicinas naturales con las plantas y hongos que cosechamos.

  We provide a bed in one bedroom of the house. Sometimes we use this space for working or receiving guests, so this space could vary or be shared depending on the time that your are coming.

  What else ...

  We live 15 minutes away from the beach, in a small village that becomes a tourist destination during the summer, offering plenty of activities, restaurants, water sports, and artistic events.
  During the low season, one can enjoy the tranquility of the place, natural landscapes, foraging for edible mushrooms, surfing and whale watching.
  There is no WIFI at home, we recommend you get a Movistar Sim Card if you need internet, we can help you with that.

  Vivimos a 15 min de la playa, es un pequeño balneario muy turístico durante el verano, con muchas actividades, restaurantes, deportes acuáticos, y actividades artísticas.
  En temporada baja se puede disfrutar de la tranquilidad del lugar, paisajes naturales, surf, recolección de hongos comestibles, y avistamiento de ballenas.
  No hay Wifi en casa, te recomendamos adquirir una SIM Card de Movistar Uruguay. Te podemos ayudar con esto.
