Our school is an EFL English school. We are always looking for challenges to our teachers and to our students. So, we will be very glad to have foreigners helping us in our activities . We try to offer diferente classes to our students in terms of culture. We usually have classes such as cooking classes, game activities, walking tours and so on . We teach young adults, but we also have a couple of teenager groups.
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Travellers will get to know a bit our culture in Rio Grande do Sul, will meet nice people, will also learn a lot about teaching methods since they can also observe classes and learn how our school works. We work with communicative aproach, so there's a lot of speaking in our classes and extra-class programs. We have around 200 students, so having this experience is a great way to make new friend as well.
The volunteer will help teachers in their teaching activities talkIng about their culture, helping or even cooking for students in a cooking class, presenting a talk (ppt) about their country, teaching students something diferente about their country and depending on the abilities of the volunteer offer different workshops to students. For instance, the volunteer may teach students how to play an instruments, dance, do yoga, play a different sport, draw, paint, tell stories, make diffent drinks or food, etc
A bedroom at the apartment of the school owner
The volunteer can visit some waterfalls around Santa Maria as well as visit the countryside and enjoy our good gastronomy .
Since I am one of the owners of the school, the volunteer will live in my apartment. It's pretty close to the school so the volunteer can walk to work. We will have lunch at school sine we have a nice kitchen there. Our expectations are to have a proactive person to make a diferente at the lives of our students and teach them some unique things about culture and life.
