    Description

I am an entrepreneurial and curious spirit and I love the outdoors. I snowboard, love to cook, camp, travel, hike, workout, socialize, read, work hard, and wander as often as possible. I'm a mom with a super laid back 10 year old boy; he's my partner in all things life. It's been him and I since day one, and it's been an incredible journey. He's an old soul with such a beautiful curiosity for life and how things work & are created. I don't know how I got so lucky, but we are a great pair and are beyond grateful to explore life together.

LIFESTYLE: We embrace the elements of living a simple, fun, active, challenging, beautiful, and encouraging lifestyle. Life is a process --- we look forward to exploring all the angles and opportunities as they come and for what they are, even when things are hard or don't make sense at first. For us, there's never really "a problem" in life but rather a solution, or, a reason and an opportunity to grow, appreciate, learn, and explore more.

JOB/CAREER: I stay decently busy. I run national sales & private label projects for an organic skincare company and 20 acre hemp farm (best job ever). I travel often, so help around the house and our 5 acres (plus another 5 acre home I own) with ducks and 2 cats would be incredibly helpful. I also work independently for small, local businesses optimizing their practices internally: private training, management training, website development, social media management, systems development, efficiency, and implementation. I help take things that seem complicated and custom fit them to their staffing abilities and implement processes to keep it simple, effective, and profitable. I enjoying helping others and their visions become a reality.

We love to eat delicious, healthy food. We always have the best coffee . I used to own my own restaurant & coffee lounge, so there will be lots of great meals and tools in the kitchen.

ABOUT OUR HOME: it's special, eclectic, cozy, older, and on the most beautiful, unique 5-acre property right on the Nooksack River in Washington State. 3 bedrooms (2 levels), 1 guest house (little house/cabin - no running water just a bed and an awesome view of the mountains), 1 shared main bathroom, 2 fireplaces, kitchen, living room, dining room, TV, internet, large gym, garage, cellar, espresso machine, large outdoor sauna (needs to be worked on), and the most beautiful mountainside & river to wake up to.

I also own another 5-acre home (duplex) I am renovating and is available, as well.

If you love nature, farming, wildlife, explirong, snowboarding, hiking, birds, plants, animals, skiing, snowmobiling, water, snow, seasonal weather, etc. then you'll love everything about this place. During the winter we enjoy hundreds of Bald Eagles just 50 feet from our front door feeding on all the fish. It's a rare sight to see anywhere in the US, and it's in our front yard. Our house is right on the river, at the base of the mountains, a quick drive up the road will lead you to the most epic trails, landscapes, views, and experiences available in the PNW.

If you are into the arts, mother nature, photography, gardening, herbs, handcrafting, woodworking, carpentry, or anything artisan -- our home and community would be a great fit. Were just outside of Bellingham, WA. Near Vancouver, BC. We live in one of the most beautiful places in North America.

    Help

-Help with small farm: chickens, and cats (not my choice…..I blame my son, but they are cute).

PROJECT 1: renovate homes to prepare for rental units (paint house, sand and stain deck, rework solid wood floors and stain evenly, finish basement, etc.)
PROJECT 2: Repair and remodel garage (new doors, remodel wood shelter, insulate garage - pretty simple).
PROJECT 3: build a mud room entrance to the house.
PROJECT 4: General gardening, lawn care, and yard maintenance.
PROJECT 5: maintenance on the outdoor sauna, resealing, setting it up to operate (it's beautiful - and I'd love to get it running. I don't think it would take a lot, I just haven't dedicated the time to it.)

Otherwise, general maintenance and projects to help the 5-acre property flourish sustainably.

I love to be part of the process, so you will have lots of help. I have all materials and tools needed - everything we will be using will be recycled & repurposed materials we have in our barns that we have saved intentionally over many years.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Public transportation is available and nearby. Local small grocery stores, fantastic brewery & restaurants nearby, Mt. Baker is just over an hour away, right up the mountain and main road. Canada is 20 minutes away to Vancouver, BC which is about 45 minutes away. Whistler is 3.5 hours away. Seattle, WA is 1.5 hours away. Bellingham is 20 minutes away - it's the closest city, home to WWU. There's a waterfall 5 minutes from our house and plenty of trails to hike. You can walk out of our yard down to the Nooksack River.

I stay really busy, so if you want to explore, having a car is highly recommended to get from where we live to the city (Bellingham).

We wear shoes in our house and clean up as we go on a daily basis. I like to keep things simple, clean, and cozy but not perfect. Wash your dishes, wipe the counters, if it's dirty and you see it help me out and I will do the same. We share, so if you need anything don't hesitate to ask. We also honor privacy and respect boundaries.

We invite creativity, ideas, art, music, science, astronomy, engineering, conversation, fun activities, exploring, questioning life and the world we live in. We tend to be very hands on and not afraid to get our hands dirty and help others.

Let us know if you think our home and lifestyle might be a great fit for your journey.

Thank you for considering our home and workaway.
