    Description

We are a married couple in our late fifties, we have no children, we are passionate about our animals and our rescue work, our home is very animal oriented, at the moment we have three orphan owlets on our dining table that I am hand rearing, last year we had three orphan sanglier in the bathroom we were bottle feeding, we never know what or when is arriving. I am somewhat scatter brained and easily distracted, I am very security conscious about making sure gates, cages etc are secured, I like things done my way with the animals because a lifetime of experience means I know what can go wrong, I think I am kind, we are both friendly and have a good sense of humour. Our home is an old pig farm the house sits in the centre of 15 acres with a lake, we are secluded and surrounded by our animals and wildlife.

Having so many different species of animals it is a great opportunity to learn specific requirements and handling skills for the range of animals and birds we have here. I am by profession a riding instructor and spent my life working with horses, so I can teach how to handle and care for horses safely. We have dogs here with behavioural problems, I can teach how you handle aggressive dogs.

  • Help

    Help

We have a small wildlife sanctuary and a huge number of other rescue animals, I am need an operation on my shoulder which means for 6 weeks I will have my arm in a sling, which means I will be limited as to what I can do one handed. We have 7 dogs, of our own and often have foster dogs as well, cats, fish, parrots, birds of prey, a rabbit, donkeys, horses and 7 pet pigs. Feeding watering, cleaning housing, learning about different species, handling them etc. Possibly help with the garden grass cutting, bramble clearing, helping with clearing out a building of junk.

    Accommodation

Caravan with toilet. We are pretty laid back I cook for my husband in the evenings so would do the same for anyone staying, I would provide food for breakfast in the caravan as we tend to just grab something when we stop. Food would be freely available. Use of the bathroom in the house for showering. There is wifi in the caravan and in and outside the house.

    What else ...

We live quite remotely, you would need transport, there is lots to do in the area château’s, kayaking, beautiful country walks, we have 15 acres a lake and a swimming pool, so plenty of places to relax. Brantome is nearby and is stunning and there are some wonderful markets around.
