  • Description

This is a community based initiative project that was established to help the need children of this village to access affordable education. We cater the orphans, the poor from the same locality and other neighboring villages . Our mantra is to see equip every girl and boy child with necessary education for tomorrow. Founded by me, Edwin in 2010 with an initial an enrollment of 5 children , the school has seen an overwhelming increase of up to 470 pupils. The school started from my house and then ultimately secured a piece of land where i developed structures. The school is located 10 kms from Livingstone Town, toward Kazungula Border. The school is located in the tribal trust lands under Chief Sekute. The area is easily accessible by Road, Air and Rail. Its a functional village where most of the village tours are done by over 100 lodges within 10km radius.

The village is not as remote as the status depicts because we have one Government School called Simoonga Combined Secondary , Simoonga police station, a clinic, Community shops and Bottle stores all within 60m radius.

As a community based initiative , the school faces many challenges in its mandate to facilitate for the children. The increase in enrollments demands more teachers, more books, more school blocks and more supplementary food for the children which the school can not sustain for now.
The school enrollment has increased from an initial 5 pupils learning under an thatched poled structures to overwhelming intake of over 200 pupils in 5 cement block class rooms. We have managed to attain this achievement through the support from the tourists that visit the school , through well-wishers and other volunteers that have engaged themselves before.
From a teacher compliment number of 1(one), the school now has 10 teachers from within the community and from the local teaching colleges who have dedicated their skill set and time to better the community. From one make shift shed, we now have been helped to build 5 class rooms, School toilets and looking forward to building more to accommodate the ever increasing demand of learning opportunities.

The school also looks at introducing computer lessons and skills to the children at this tender age to equip them to the prevalent global status.

However the meals are not hotel class menu but that with is decent and within the school budget. We are cognizant of different dietary requirement for different nationality hence the school will act accordingly.

  • Help

    1. The School needs help in the form of voluntary services:
    - Teaching ( Volunteers can teach in any area of their expertise and can introduce any activity/subject which they believe will enhance the curriculum of the school)
    - Participatory Projects ( the school has many development projects like building, gardening and is in the near future embarking on poultry)
