  • Description

Help us by having a good time here yourself!!!

Hello there! This project was closed for a year, so please ignore our poor response time and don't hesitate to contact us if you are interested. We will usually reply within the same day! :)
We manage a new business in Luang Prabang, operating as a restaurant, bar and events place. My aim is to transform this venue into the best party place in town, and for that, I need your help!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Apart from the volunteers, the staff here is mainly Lao and Chinese, who love sharing insights regarding their culture and language, in return for learning English. We are sometimes invited to football matches, barbecues and weddings with locals and if you are lucky enough, you may be able to experience those during your stay here.

Also, as this is a backpacker hotspot, you will meet lots of our guests (and volunteers!) with interesting stories and recommendations for your future travels, all over cold beverages and good music. All in all, you will benefit tremendously from a diverse cultural mix and we encourage everyone to exchange info and experiences.

  • Help

This is a new project and we are currently unknown. Therefore, we need outgoing volunteers for handing out flyers in groups of two or more to tourists and backpackers just outside the venue or popular tourist spots.

This is the only set schedule we have and it applies to nearly all of our volunteers. Other than this, volunteers are invited to spend time in our venue in the evening during opening times, chat to our guests, enjoy music and most importantly, have fun!

On top of this, we are looking for a photographer/videographer to take some awesome shots/footage of our venue and guests, in order to be later uploaded on our new Instagram page. Also... are you fairly skilled LED and fire poi/staff/hula hoop etc. performer? We would be thrilled to host you in exchange for showing off your skills to our guests!

We also need a DJ Guitarist and Singer, who will not be requested to hand out flyers as per above, but instead, play music for around 3 hours a day (in the evening, sometime between 8 PM - 11:30 PM, depending on the number of guests we have). We provide all the necessary equipment and a growing repertoire of over 10,000 songs.

Since we are currently reopening the place anyone with carpenter skills is more than welcome anytime!

To clarify, volunteers are the heart of this place. Previously, we had similar projects in other locations in Laos, where we hosted numerous volunteers helping us with similar tasks. We are also backpackers, therefore we wish to maintain this volunteering culture in order to promote skill exchange, experience sharing and teamwork with people from all backgrounds. We are very flexible, since we share similar interests and hardly have a set schedule for our volunteers, but overall we require your help during evenings, for most days.

  • Accommodation

Accommodation is dorm-style, with WiFi 24/7, in a colourful house only a short walk from the venue. This house is rented by our management for the purpose of accommodating volunteers and some members of the staff only.
If you aren't comfortable sharing a room with other volunteers, maybe this isn't the right spot for you.
We have a shared bathroom with showers in the house. The toilets are typically South East Asian and occasionally we do get that one volunteer who has a problem with this. If you are one of them, we would like to remind you that this is typical in Laos and part of the workaway experience is to live as locals do. If this isn't for you we hope you can abstain from applying for this position as you are taking away a spot from people who don't mind the experience.

We provide two delicious meals per day: at the house at 12 PM and at the venue at 6 PM. We mostly cook Chinese or Lao cuisine but are open to culinary suggestions in order to accommodate all types of diets. Other than that, volunteers are also free to make use of the house kitchen area for cooking their own meals. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are also provided.

Please do not apply too far in advance.
We understand that volunteers need some stability when planning their trip, that's why many apply early. But plans change: Often volunteers want to stay longer as initially planned and we would hate to kick anyone out because we promised their spot to new arrivals. It's best to contact us around 1-2 weeks in advance.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Volunteers will have plenty of time to explore the area, as their help is most needed during evenings. The shiniest gems in this place are the Kuang Si and Tad Sae waterfalls, located 1-hour, respectively 20-minute drive away from town, for which we may be able to arrange discounted transportation, depending on the number of volunteers willing to visit it at the time.

In the vicinity, you will be able to explore the Butterfly Farm, the Bear Sanctuary, the Mandalao Elephant Sanctuary, Pak Ou Caves etc. We also provide discounts for entry to the local swimming pool and will love to advise you on going to lesser-known scenic spots in Luang Prabang.

We also have friends who regularly visit local communities and villages just outside Luang Prabang if you wish to join them for learning about eco-farming, handcraftsmanship, food sourcing and foraging etc.
