My Home is one excersize based on the rural lifestyle on the Colombian Andes, with a scope on environmental sustainability.
Our farm is located in Fómeque, two hours away from Bogotá -the capital city- 2100 meters above the sea level and only 30 kilometers away from the Chingaza National Park, home of Andean bears, deers and condors.
Our main line of action parts from agriculture, breeding of minor species (such as chickens, rabbits and cows) and other activities which seek to generate a positive impact on the local community towards sustainability. In order to reach this, we bridge traditional peasant knowledge with modern social and environmental technologies.
Our mission also focuses on proyecting the generational succession and the food security of the region as we find strategies to protect our environment which is a great source of water and thus, of life - the water from our region is supplies over 10 million people.
This happens mainly through the following activities:
*️️ small organic crops, edible gardens and orchards
*️️ offering open classes for schools and universities (research and practices) aiming at covering the social knowledge gap and promoting the cultural exchange between the urban and rural communities.
*️️ workshops on tools for sustainability at the local school.
*️️ accompanying the local community in the design of own enterprises and life plan focusing on sustainability.
