  • Description

We're Jeff and Jenny! Our property is located up a canyon off of a steep one-mile dirt road in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains just 4 miles outside of downtown Cashmere, WA. Jeff and I have been married for 30 years and we have two adult children who are out on their own, so we've got lots of room to share.

Jeff currently works as a 6th grade math & science teacher in Cashmere, but is also a former National Park Ranger who has used that expertise (and dedicated years of labor) to build an extensive biking trail system on our 18-acre property. I am a professor in the College of Business at Central Washington University, so I stay in Ellensburg Tues-Thurs each week. We have a deaf, partially blind 16-year-old dog name Tebby (in one of the pictures) and a 4 year old cat named Tiger. In our free time we enjoy outdoor activities, hiking, paddleboarding, camping, skiing. Jeff is big into mountain biking and music - he's got a room just for jamming and playing guitar. We are very easy-going people and want to host Workwawayers who would be kind and sociable additions to our home.

We are looking for help on our property sporadically and as needed, so send us a message if you want to stay with us, and we'll let you know if we can host you at the time you request!

We want you to make the most out of your stay in the Cascade Mountains, so we are more than willing to show you around the area and offer plenty of recommendations on local hiking, biking or recreation areas. Jeff and I both have a wealth of life experiences and lessons that we love to share with anyone who wants to know more about us. Jeff has a lot of great stories and knowledge to share from living in a number of national parks (we actually met when we were both working in Yellowstone) and I recently finished up leading a seminar that was years in the making to coach young women in business on prioritizing one's own health, happiness and career goals. As we've said, we also love to get outside and be active, so you're always welcome to join us on those weekend excursions.

  • Help

Our projects will range from DIY home improvement projects, helping plan and cook meals, to running errands! It is required that you have a reliable means of transportation so you can make the most out of your stay in Central Washington. Our 1 mile long dirt road is steep and winding. In the winter it requires traction tires, all wheel or 4 wheel drive and sometimes chains. Projects may require you to lift some amount of weight or using a variety of handheld tools. We are very flexible and understanding, so we can also work with you to determine a project that would fit your abilities and areas of interest. Just let us know in your message what you'd be able to help us with!

  • Accommodation

If you were to stay with us, you'd be sleeping in our separate bathhouse that we have converted to be a guest suite. You'd be sharing the kitchen and living space with us in the main house and we can provide you with food for breakfast and lunch. If you run the shopping errands for us, you can pick out what you'd like and we will reimburse you. We hope you like to cook because we greatly appreciate you helping with dinner and clean up as we eat dinner together most nights.

Wenatchee is the closest, largest city to us and it also so happens to be the Apple Capital of the World! There's always plenty of fresh apples and cider to be had. There are also a lot of local wineries in the area. And of course being located right in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, there is plenty of outdoor recreation in which you can partake. Cashmere itself has its own historical museum and candy factory that you can tour during your time here.
