Description
Hello everybody
We are a family of four, there is Manu (35), Gioia (28), Piera (8) and Nanda (5). We share our home with our flatmate Chenoa (20). Manu works in the forrest and Gioia is a student of applied environmental engineering and organic farming.
Current situation: We are renovating the house that Manu grew up in. We could use some help with carpentry work, plastering, and creating order. At the same time we are rebuilding the garden (it has to be ready soon, since Gioia will be teaching some classes there in spring). Projects include setting up a small vegetable garden from scratch, replanting plants, cutting bushes and trees, planting new bushes, building stonewalls, setting up a new compost and getting rid of a lot of stuff.
Following some general information about us.
In our spare time together we take care of a small vineyard, some chicken (they are living with Gioia's Mom at the moment), a young fruit orchard and a vegetable garden (10 min from where we live, next to the vineyard) in order to increase our self sufficiency level. We are very interested among other things in sustainable living, permaculture and living with the seasons. We love simple things that make life beautiful like sitting around a bonfire, spending time with friends and family or going for a hike. We love bikepacking, music, raves and acroyoga.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Living with us you'll experience Switzerland far beyond the cliche alps. We live very close to Zurich (15 min by train, 20 by bike to the main station) but still live in close touch with nature. We are surrounded by spectacular places and lots of opportunities for outdoor activities. There is a lake, a small river, a wild forrest and a small hill. Within less than an hour you get to the postcard places of switzerland: the alps, lakes and skiing resorts. If there's time we can take you to nice spots and explore together.
We love to host people and parties in our house, so you will get to know our friends and family and therefor have a broad insight into our culture. For us, if someone stays with us they belong to the family and will be welcomed with an open heart. The center of our life are our children, they are part of all our activities and equal members of our tribe. We encourage you to connect with them, even though they don't speak english, it's fun and makes them feel included! :)Projects involving children

Help
To avoid confusion: We don't run a farm. We live in a semi-urban area in a regular house just 20 minutes away from the center of Zurich and all our projects (garden, vineyard, renovation) are taking place in our spare time.
Current projects:
-renovation (carpentry, plastering, building terrace)
-setting up vegetable garden
-setting up compost
-planting a hedge
-building stonewalls
-getting rid of a lot of stuff
There is always plenty of work around here. Some is seasonal, some is routine and some are projects we dream of.
-help in the vegetable garden (weeding, planting, harvesting...)
-process harvest (ferment, dry, freeze, sterilize....)
-help in the frontyard (cut hedges, mow lawn, cut trees, building a playground...)
-help in the vineyard
-finish our little shed in the vineyard
-help with wood work (grind and carve etc), objects, art and furnitur
-chores like washing, cleaning and cooking
-play with children
We share a household and everyone contributes to household chores. This is not considered as part of the workaway exchange, it is just living together :)
We encourage you to share your talents and skills. Maybe we can profit from something we don't even know yet.Languages
