Hi! We are Tasmin and Declan, an Australian couple currently travelling South America for a year. We’re taking our time, trying to see places properly rather than rushing through them.

We are happiest outdoors.. hiking, swimming, exploring new landscapes, or just being somewhere with fresh air and a good view. We love food (both cooking and eating it), trying new things, and saying yes to experiences we haven’t had before. One of our favourite parts of travelling is meeting people from different backgrounds and learning how they see the world.

Before this trip, Tasmin worked in public health across Pacific Island countries. That experience shaped her a lot, it taught her to listen well, work respectfully with communities, and value practical, hands-on contributions. She care’s about conservation, sustainability, and communities that look after their environment and each other.

Declan worked in clinical trials research for oncological treatments. This experience taught him how precious life is and motivates him to get out of his comfort zone, learn new things and experience as much as life has to offer.

We are motivated by meaningful work, learning new skills, and being useful. We’re not afraid of getting our hands dirty, we’re tidy and considerate guests, and we bring a positive attitude (and a good sense of humour).

We speak fluent English and are interested in teaching English. We are beginners at learning Spanish but hope that our time travelling this year and a potential WorkAway placement will help with our studies.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We are practical, energetic, and happy to get stuck in. Physical work doesn’t scare us, gardening, painting, moving things, cleaning, helping outdoors — we’re in!

Professionally, Tasmin studied health project management which has made her organised, adaptable, and comfortable working with people. Tasmin previously worked in a restaurant and is comfortable in busy environments. She has managed social media for 2 employers so can help with content creation, photography, writing, or keeping things updated online. Tasmin has previous experience working as a teachers assistant in England and has worked as a nanny for children of all ages.

Declan has an honours degree in psychology. During university he worked in childcare for 4 years and is capable caring and supporting children of all ages. After university he worked in clinical trials research as a lead coordinator who was in charge of coordinating the logistics of the trial and reporting the data back to the pharmaceutical sponsor. He also worked a hobby job in garden maintenance in which he helped maintain lawns, hedges and planting trees.

We speak English fluently and are currently learning Spanish.
