Beschreibung

Hi! My name is Signe, and I love exploring the world. I’m an adventurous, hardworking, and creative person who enjoys learning about different cultures and connecting with people. To me, traveling isn’t just about seeing new places, it’s about understanding what it means to be a part of the world we all share :)

I’m from Seattle, WA, USA, and while I don’t have everything about my future mapped out yet, I’m choosing to enjoy the journey, stay curious, and learn through as many real life experiences as possible.The privilege of traveling and volunteering allow me to step outside of a Western centered worldview and grow through meaningful cultural exchange. I grew up attending a Montessori school, which made me a hands on learner, adventure seeker and adaptable person. I’ve been figure skating for 15 years and while I’m retired from competing in synchronized figure skating (look it up!), I love coaching and working with children. Teaching has taught me patience, leadership, and how to connect with people of all ages.

I have Workaway experience in Chile, Portugal, Malaysia and Mexico doing various types of work. My past hosts have described me as reliable, proactive, and adaptable.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I am a very detail oriented, organized and creative person that is willing to take initiative. Here are some of my skills and experiences:

- Ice skating coach of individuals of all ages, especially beginners from 3 years old to adults. Started volunteering at age 12.
- Workaway volunteered in hostels (reception, cleaning), on farms (gardening, livestock), house repair (plastering, sanding) and domestic work jobs (cooking, cleaning).
- Interned with non profits: Save the Children - Fiji, Amara Foster Care Center and National Parks Service.
- Worked as a cashier and consignment curator at the UBC thrift store.
- Server for residents at a retirement home for three years.
- Painted a mural at my old school and would love to be able to help make spaces more beautiful with an artistic touch.

I am a very thrifty and resourceful person when it comes to all facets of my life and prefer to learn various skills independently (hair cutting, sewing, drawing.) I embrace learning and lending a hand especially when it’s not always asked. My upbringing at a Montessori K-8 and synchronized figure skating instilled in me a valuable sense of team work and self discipline.

I am well versed in social media marketing and graphic design. During COVID I ran an online clothing store through Depop with close to 300 sales which involved sourcing, advertising, and shipping clothing items.

I love animals and a huge part of what I enjoy about traveling is being around other forms of life that are not only human. While cats have a special place in my heart, I enjoy all life!
