Hello, I am a healthy, active 75 year old, self-employed gardener (now retired) looking to spend more time travelling and meeting people. I enjoy being able to use and share my skills. Having owned a few of old Volvo 240’s has allowed me to hone my mechanical skills. Our home is heated exclusively with wood which I cut (with a chainsaw) from our woodlot and split with a maul. I take care of most of our home repairs and I have constructed several outbuildings on our property. We have kept chickens and guinea fowl, though our flock is much depleted now. I love being with and caring for animals. I enjoy hiking, camping and the natural world and would like to spend time in places which can be explored on foot. Recently I have been spending more time on green woodworking, carving spoons and shrink pots and taking classes in chair making. I have done some dry-stone walling.
My career started as a geologist in the oil industry but after several years (and the realization that this was not a path consistent with my hopes and values) I moved over to horticulture.
I was the stay-at-home parent of our daughter and son (now young adults).

Gardening, particularly pruning of small trees and shrubs.
Basic home maintenance and repair.
Basic car maintenance and repair.
General ability to fix that broken something (I have even repaired statues and garden ornaments among many other things).
I can handle a sailing dinghy, canoe and kayak. I am comfortable on the water.
Basic cooking and baking skills.

In my down time I love to read and I will seek out live music performance (classical, folk etc).
I enjoy sailing and canoeing.
